Welding Engineer

Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Welding Engineer to join our innovative engineering team. In this role, you will lead the development, testing, and implementation of welding processes across various projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. Your expertise will drive the optimization of welding techniques, improve manufacturing efficiency, and support the design of complex mechanical systems. Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate, and optimize welding procedures in accordance with ASME codes & standards and industry best practices.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on welding defects or failures to identify underlying issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers and CAD specialists to review schematics, mechanical designs, and technical drawings using SolidWorks, Creo, and Drafting tools.
  • Utilize programmable logic controllers (PLCs), LabVIEW, MATLAB, Simulink, Arduino, and other control systems to automate welding processes and system integration.
  • Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulations to evaluate weld integrity under various operational conditions.
  • Oversee project scheduling for welding activities to ensure timely completion within project timelines.
  • Support manufacturing teams by providing technical guidance on CNC machining, mechanical design, system design, and fabrication techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; advanced certifications in welding or materials science are a plus.
  • Proven experience with welding processes such as TIG, MIG, arc welding, or laser welding within industrial settings.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by expertise in mechanical engineering principles and mechanical design software like SolidWorks or Creo.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools for schematics creation and drafting; experience with CAD standards is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ASME codes & standards related to pressure vessels, piping systems, or structural welds.
  • Experience with project scheduling tools and methodologies to coordinate multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis on complex issues using systematic problem-solving techniques.
  • Proficiency with control systems such as PLCs, LabVIEW, MATLAB/Simulink, Arduino for automation and system integration tasks.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes including CNC machining, FEA simulations, and system design considerations. Must Have -

5+ years of experience in quality management, welding engineering, or steel fabrication quality roles. ● Strong knowledge of welding codes (Specifically AWS D1.1). ● Experience with steel fabrication processes such as cutting, forming, machining, and assembly. ● Ability to read fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and GD&T. ● Experience performing or supervising NDE. ● Strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with root-cause tools (5 Why, Fishbone, DMAIC).

Pay: $105,000.00 - $122,000.00 per year
