Position Summary

The Managing Director will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for driving company-wide performance, operational excellence, strategic growth, and cross-functional alignment. This remote leadership position requires a highly experienced executive who can effectively manage distributed teams, optimize business operations, and support the commercialization and scaling of innovative technologies.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, decisive leader, and strong operator with experience leading high-growth organizations within technology, manufacturing, engineering, medical device, or advanced materials industries.

 

Key Responsibilities

Executive Leadership

  • Lead the execution of the company's strategic vision and growth objectives.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to establish long-term business goals and operational priorities.
  • Drive organizational performance through data-driven decision-making and accountability.
  • Provide leadership across operations, engineering, product development, finance, and business development teams.

Business Operations

  • Oversee daily business operations to ensure efficiency, productivity, and scalability.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies that support company growth and profitability.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting systems to measure organizational success.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and increase operational effectiveness.

Strategic Growth

  • Support business expansion initiatives, partnerships, and commercialization efforts.
  • Evaluate market opportunities and help develop strategies for sustainable growth.
  • Lead organizational planning and resource allocation efforts.
  • Drive execution of company initiatives from concept through implementation.

Financial Oversight

  • Partner with finance leadership to manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
  • Monitor operational expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support fundraising, investor relations, and strategic planning activities as needed.

Team Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and develop high-performing remote teams.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish leadership development and succession planning programs.
  • Promote employee engagement and professional growth.

Remote Leadership

  • Effectively manage distributed teams across multiple locations and time zones.
  • Implement systems and communication practices that support remote productivity.
  • Ensure alignment and collaboration across departments through virtual leadership.

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience, including executive-level responsibility.
  • Proven experience leading operations, business strategy, and organizational growth.
  • Strong background in manufacturing, technology, engineering, medical device, or industrial sectors.
  • Demonstrated success managing remote and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent financial, analytical, and strategic planning skills.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership abilities.

Preferred

  • MBA or advanced graduate degree.
  • Experience scaling startups or high-growth companies.
  • Experience with product commercialization and operational expansion.
  • Lean Six Sigma, PMP, or similar leadership certifications.
