We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Wharf Clerk - Export Documentation to join our team at Embilipitiya Paper Mills (Pvt) Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our wharf operations, ensuring efficient handling of export shipments, and maintaining accurate records. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the operational excellence of our company and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the production function.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of export vessels, trucks, and other modes of transportation, ensuring safe and efficient handling of goods.
  • Work with shipping agents, port authorities, and other stakeholders to facilitate timely arrivals and departures of export vessels.
  • Help manage inventory levels and storage facilities to optimize space utilization and ensure adequate stock availability for exports.
  • Support the implementation and enforcement of safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining equipment and infrastructure to ensure proper functioning and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide administrative support to the wharf team, ensuring high performance and productivity in export operations.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including production, procurement, and sales, to coordinate inbound and outbound export shipments and meet customer demands.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide regular reports on wharf export operations, including performance metrics, inventory levels, and any issues or concerns.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a similar role within the maritime or logistics industry, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic understanding of wharf export operations, including vessel handling, cargo management, and port regulations.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Basic problem-solving abilities and the capacity to assist in decision-making under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using wharf management systems and other relevant software tools.
  • Awareness of safety regulations and best practices in maritime operations.
