A Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2) serves on wildland fire suppression crews (hand crew or engine), performing arduous duties like fire line construction, hose lays, equipment, and mop up operations. They work under hazardous conditions (heat, smoke, steep terrain) to manage fuels and suppress fires. No supervisory experience is required, but an arduous fitness level is a requirement. Teamwork is a critical function of this position.
