Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader with strong management skills to grow our Window Treatments Department. This full-time role involves overseeing product selection, sales strategies, and team management to ensure exceptional customer service and profitability. The ideal candidate will increase department sales through client engagement, strong partnership with our Furniture Design Team, and excellent vendor relationships.

Compensation will be a combination of an hourly rate range from $23.00 to $25.00 an hour plus a percentage of Department Sales for total of $55,000-$65,000+ dependent on performance.

Key Competencies Needed:

  • Track record of success as a Sales Leader within retail or interior design industries, specifically in window treatments or related products.
  • High degree of organization and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and mathematical aptitude.
  • Technical measurement accuracy combined with spatial awareness.
  • Elevated taste and design sensibilities, with knowledge of current trends in window treatments, fabrics, and interior design solutions.
  • Positive leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Strategic planning expertise with a focus on sales growth and operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrated success in supervising staff and driving business development efforts.
  • Excellent project management skills with attention to detail in process improvement initiatives.
  • Effective listening and communication skills suitable for engaging diverse client bases and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the daily operations and strategic development to profitably grow the window treatments business segment.
  • Design and sell custom window treatment solutions while maintaining a showroom that features fresh, current offerings that meet our client aesthetic through knowledge of fabrics, materials, trims and lining options.
  • Propose solutions to address clients' functional needs; through knowledge of operating systems, hardware, obstructions/obstacles that would hinder functionality.
  • Perform precise measurements accounting for clearance, hardware obstructions and architectural details.
  • Maintain Hunter Douglas certification, and an overall mastery of their product offerings.
  • Visualize and communicate finished projects to engage and excite clients.
  • Conduct client house calls as needed.
  • Supervise department sales staff, providing coaching, training, and mentoring to enhance product knowledge and sales techniques.
  • Maintain an organized client pipeline to track and manage all window treatment orders, lead times, and installation schedules for timely delivery and quality.
  • Follow up on open quotes, pending decisions, and past clients to foster repeat and referral business.
  • Manage vendor relationships for positive outcomes.
  • Submit all work room orders and manage back-order situations.
  • Support the Furniture Design Team during large design projects by assisting where possible and holding regular training sessions to promote independent abilities but also schedule one-on-one attention when needed.
  • Develop a critical eye for the aesthetic direction of Saybrook Home and share improvement driven feedback that can benefit the business.

Pay: $47,500.00 - $65,000.00 per year
