WordPress Developer

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled WordPress Developer to join our software development team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including creating WordPress themes and plugins, site integration, and security updates.

Key Responsibilities

Development & Technical

• Design and develop custom WordPress themes from scratch or modify existing themes
• Create and maintain custom WordPress plugins to extend site functionality
• Convert PSD/Figma designs into fully responsive WordPress websites
• Integrate third-party APIs and services into WordPress sites
• Optimize websites for maximum speed, performance, and SEO
• Ensure cross-browser compatibility and mobile responsiveness
• Implement and maintain WordPress security best practices

Database & Server Management

• Work with MySQL databases for custom queries and optimization
• Manage WordPress multisite installations when required
• Handle website migrations and server deployments
• Perform regular website backups and updates

Maintenance & Support

• Troubleshoot and debug WordPress issues across different environments
• Update WordPress core, themes, and plugins while ensuring compatibility
• Monitor website performance and implement improvements
• Provide ongoing maintenance and support for existing WordPress sites

Collaboration & Project Management

• Work closely with designers, project managers, and other developers
• Participate in code reviews and follow established coding standards
• Document code and maintain project documentation
• Communicate project progress and technical challenges to stakeholders

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Proficient in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery
• Strong experience with WordPress theme and plugin development
• Knowledge of WordPress hooks, filters, and custom post types
• Experience with MySQL database management
• Understanding of responsive design principles
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git)
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs and AJAX

WordPress Expertise

• Minimum 3-5 years of WordPress development experience
• Understanding of WordPress coding standards and best practices
• Experience with popular WordPress plugins and frameworks
• Knowledge of WordPress security protocols
• Familiarity with page builders (Elementor, Gutenberg, etc.)

Additional Skills

• Basic understanding of server management and hosting environments
• Experience with performance optimization tools
• Knowledge of SEO best practices
• Familiarity with testing and debugging tools
• Understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG)

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field
• Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue.js)
• Knowledge of preprocessors (SASS/LESS)
• Experience with e-commerce platforms (WooCommerce)
• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud)
• Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
