Job Description: Mid-Level WordPress Developer (Full-Time)

Location: Hybrid Experience: 3–5 years Type: Full-Time Company: SocialChamp

About the Role

We are looking for a mid-level WordPress developer to take ownership of the SocialChamp website. Our website is highly customized, performance-critical, and evolving toward a multilingual, scalable architecture.

This role is not about installing plugins — it’s about clean code, performance optimization, maintainability, and long-term control.

You will work closely with SEO, content, and marketing teams to build a fast, dynamic, and easily manageable website.

Key Responsibilities

WordPress Development & Architecture

• Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes, child themes, and plugins
• Convert static/custom pages into dynamic, admin-controlled structures
• Ensure clean, modular, and scalable code
• Manage multiple WordPress instances (main site & blog)

Performance & Core Web Vitals

• Optimize for 100% Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, FID/INP)
• Handle:
• Critical CSS
• Render-blocking JS
• Lazy loading
• Image optimization (WebP/AVIF)
• Improve server-side and frontend performance

Multilingual Implementation

• Implement and maintain multilingual WordPress setup (WPML / Polylang)
• Ensure SEO-safe URL structures and hreflang tags
• Manage content synchronization across languages

SEO & Technical Excellence

• Work closely with SEO team on:
• Page speed improvements
• Schema & metadata handling
• Indexing, redirects, and crawlability
• Ensure updates don’t break SEO or performance

Workflow & Collaboration

• Communicate clearly and proactively
• Acknowledge requirements before starting tasks
• Provide updates when tasks are completed
• Use version control (Git) and staging environments

Required Skills & ExperienceMust-Have

• 3+ years of hands-on WordPress development
• Strong PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Experience with custom themes & plugins
• Advanced knowledge of ACF / Gutenberg blocks
• Strong understanding of WordPress hooks, filters, and APIs
• Proven experience optimizing Core Web Vitals
• Experience with Git (GitHub / Bitbucket)
• Mobile-first, responsive development mindset

Performance & Infrastructure

• Experience with:
• Caching layers (Redis, LiteSpeed, WP Rocket, etc.)
• CDN (Cloudflare, BunnyCDN)
• Lighthouse, GTmetrix, WebPageTest
• Ability to debug slow queries (Query Monitor, New Relic)

Multilingual & SEO

• Experience with multilingual WordPress sites
• Understanding of hreflang, URL structures, and SEO best practices
• Ability to collaborate with SEO professionals

Nice-to-Have (Strong Plus)

• Experience with headless or API-based WordPress setups
• Knowledge Bricks and other CMS
• Experience with security hardening
• Experience working in SaaS or B2B websites
