Worker's Compensation Associate Attorney - Remotely Based
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join a growing Workers’ Compensation defense practice. This role is ideal for a California-licensed attorney with at least three years of workers’ compensation litigation experience who is looking for a remote-based position with a client-focused law firm.
The Associate Attorney will manage a caseload of workers’ compensation defense matters, including discovery, depositions, hearings, and settlement negotiations. Success in this role requires strong litigation skills, professionalism, collaboration, and a commitment to delivering excellent results for clients.
Required Education and Experience
- JD from an accredited law school
- Active California State Bar license in good standing
- At least three years of experience in Workers’ Compensation
Duties/Responsibilities
- Analyze complex legal and medical issues to determine case value and litigation strategy
- Represent clients at depositions, hearings, status conferences, and trials before the WCAB
- Draft pleadings, motions, trial briefs, and settlement agreements
- Conduct depositions of applicants, medical experts, and other witnesses
- Perform case evaluations and prepare case status reports for clients
- Attend mandatory settlement conferences (MSCs), priority conferences, and trials
- Manage discovery process, including propounding and responding to discovery
- Negotiate settlements in line with client expectations and risk management objectives
- Provide guidance to clients on claim handling strategies, litigation costs, and exposure analysis
- Stay current with changes in workers’ compensation law and related statutes
- Work closely with paralegals and administrative staff to manage caseload efficiently
- Ensure compliance with billing requirements and document time accurately

Salary Offered
Salary range is $140,000 - $200,000 (dependent on experience)
