Workers Compensation Claims Specialist

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Compensation Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with workers' compensation coverage and claims within California.

What you'll do

  • Manage and monitor WC claim data end-to-end — from initial injury reports through settlement — on behalf of the company and its clients
  • Coordinate with claims managers, insured employers, healthcare providers, and insurance carriers to move cases forward efficiently
  • Represent and advocate for client employers in claim review meetings and deliver in-person presentations on claim status
  • Maintain OSHA-required injury and illness records and track lost workdays for clients in our WC Management Program
  • Guide clients through injury investigations, interactive processes, return-to-work strategies, and settlement negotiations
  • Assist in implementing Medical Provider Networks and ensure proper coordination of care
  • Facilitate Workers' Compensation Best Practices and Injury Report training workshops for client employers
  • Keep the claims database current — daily activity diaries, documentation, acknowledgments, and reports
  • Prepare estimated experience mod worksheets and maintain carrier reporting information
  • Escalate complex claims to senior Risk Management personnel as needed for loss control evaluation

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and insurance experience.
  • Minimum four (4) years of California based Workers’ Compensation insurance claims experience.
  • Workers' Compensation Claims Administration (WCCA) and/or Workers' Compensation Claims Professional (WCCP) designation
  • Available and eligible to travel by all transportation methods, as needed

While applicants need not be located in California, they must have experience with Workers' Compensation in California to be considered for this position.
