Match-Up Employment Agency is seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney to join a well-established and growing legal team serving clients throughout California. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for a motivated attorney who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment and is looking for autonomy, flexibility, and strong administrative support.
This role focuses on representing employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators in workers’ compensation matters before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB).

Key ResponsibilitiesLitigation & Case Management
- Manage a full caseload of California workers’ compensation defense matters
- Represent clients at hearings, conferences, depositions, and trials before the WCAB
- Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, petitions, motions, and legal correspondence
- Evaluate claims exposure and develop case strategies
- Review medical records and work closely with medical experts
Client Representation & Strategy
- Provide timely reporting and case analysis to insurance carriers and employers
- Advise clients on risk exposure, settlement strategy, and litigation options
- Negotiate settlements and appear at Mandatory Settlement Conferences (MSCs)
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and claims adjusters
Compliance & Professional Standards
- Ensure adherence to California workers’ compensation laws and procedural rules
- Maintain organized case files and meet all court deadlines
- Stay informed on legal updates and regulatory changes affecting workers’ compensation
Requirements
- Active member in good standing with the California State Bar
- 2+ years of experience in workers’ compensation defense (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of California Labor Code and WCAB procedures
- Experience handling depositions, hearings, and settlement negotiations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to manage a caseload independently in a remote environment
- Proficiency with legal case management software
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of California workers’ compensation defense experience
- Trial experience before the WCAB
- Experience representing insurance carriers and self-insured employers
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 - $185,000.00 per year
