The Black Car Fund, a not-for-profit dedicated to providing workers' compensation insurance, safety education, and benefits to For-Hire drivers across New York, is looking for an experienced, customer-focused Subrogation Adjuster to join our dynamic team.

This is a full-time, hybrid position that offers flexibility in both in-office and remote work after the initial onboarding period. If you enjoy investigative work, negotiation, and driving financial recovery outcomes, this role offers both impact and growth.

What You’ll Do:

As a vital member of our Subrogation team, you will take ownership of identifying and pursuing recovery opportunities, helping ensure responsible parties are held accountable.

Key responsibilities include:

• Evaluate new claims for subrogation and recovery potential
• Manage recovery efforts through liens and intercompany transfers
• Issue reservation of rights and consent to settle letters
• Communicate and negotiate with attorneys, claimants, and third parties
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors
• Develop and maintain strategic Plans of Action for each claim
• Document all activity clearly within the claims system
• Stay current through training and industry seminars
• Support special projects and initiatives as needed

What We're Looking For:

We’re seeking a detail-oriented professional.

Required:

• 3+ years of Workers’ Compensation Subrogation experience
• Strong knowledge of New York Workers’ Compensation Law (Section 29)

Preferred:

• Experience as a Workers’ Compensation Adjuster
• Bachelor’s degree

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Education: College degree preferred or equivalent experience as a Subrogation Adjuster.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in NYS Workers' Compensation Subrogation.
• Location: Hybrid remote position based in Long Island City, NY.
