Job Summary
Byrd Enterprises is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Working Assistant Project Manager to support the successful execution of a large-scale National Cemetery and Headstone Maintenance Project. As a company we strive to produce the best results for our customers and those involved with the cemetery. Working in a national cemetery is an extremely high priority job and expectations are held above standards. This role is customer-facing and plays a critical part in coordinating field operations, tracking contract performance, and ensuring services are delivered efficiently and to specification.
The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working out in the field with crews.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the customer, maintaining strong professional relationships and ensuring satisfaction
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the contract, statement of work (SOW), and service requirements
- Assist the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, and delegating work to field crews
- Assist in managing grounds of cemetery by mowing, trimming, spraying grass, and other grounds maintenance responsibilities
- Operate zero turn mowers, trimmers, UTVs, and other equipment in a safe manner around memorials, shrines, and people
- Conduct quality control rounds multiple times daily to monitor progress, identify issues, ensure accurate work completed, and support crews as needed
- Monitor and report on daily project progress
- Maintain and repair equipment
- Track and manage remaining contract quantities, ensuring work stays within scope and budget
- Perform administrative tasks, including reporting, documentation, and data entry
- Coordinate with field teams to ensure timely and high-quality completion of services
- Help resolve customer concerns and communicate updates effectively
- Support compliance with safety standards and company policies
- Plan and implement cemetery projects
- Help define project timelines, goals, and deliverables
- Ensure schedules are maintained
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle and manage stress
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar tools
Preferred:
- Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or similar field
- Familiarity with contract management or quantity tracking
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and irrigation systems
- Prior experience in a supervisory or coordination role
Work Environment
- Outdoor field work with administrative tasks
- Regular interaction with crews, equipment, and customer staff
- May require occasional early mornings or extended hours depending on project needs
Assistant Project Manager – Grounds Maintenance
We’re looking for a hands-on Assistant Project Manager to help lead day-to-day operations for a grounds maintenance contract. This is a customer-facing role where you’ll track contract quantities, coordinate crews, and ensure high-quality service delivery.
What You’ll Do:
- Act as the main point of contact for the customer
- Track work progress and remaining contract quantities
- Support crew scheduling and field operations
- Handle reporting and administrative tasks
- Assist with site visits and service coordination
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work in the field
- Landscaping/grounds maintenance experience preferred
- Irrigation or equipment maintenance knowledge is a plus
