Workplace Security & Safety Consultant (In-Office)

PURPOSE:
The Workplace Security & Safety Consultant will lead the strategic development and execution of comprehensive security and safety programs designed to safeguard the organization's people and physical assets (non-cybersecurity). This role is accountable for evaluating risk, establishing robust security frameworks, and guiding initiatives that uphold a safe and resilient work environment. Extensive expertise in corporate security operations, risk mitigation, life safety management, and crisis preparedness and response is required for this role. Success in this position requires exceptional analytical abilities, sound decision-making, and excellent communication and leadership skills to work effectively with teams across the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and threats across the organizations physical and digital environments.

  • Partner with key stakeholders to develop, implement, and maintain security strategies, policies, and procedures that effectively mitigate identified risks.

  • Design, deliver, and oversee security training programs to enhance workforce awareness, preparedness, and adherence to established security protocols.

  • Direct the investigation, documentation, and resolution of all security incidents, physical breaches, and other emergencies.

  • Ensure timely communication of incident findings and corrective actions to leadership and relevant stakeholders.

  • Implement, manage, and continuously monitor workplace safety programs, ensuring adherence to all applicable local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

  • Maintain organizational compliance with all relevant security and safety standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

  • Oversee internal and external audits related to safety and security, ensuring successful completion and demonstrating full compliance.

  • Manage relationships with external security vendors, day-to-day oversight of contingent security workforce and service providers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective solutions that align with organizational needs.

  • Analyze data and develop reports for senior leadership that highlight key security risks, incidents, trends, overall budget management, and actionable recommendations.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on matters involving security risk, safety performance, and organizational resilience.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has no direct reports, however, may informally lead teams in a matrix environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Information Technology, or a related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Experience: 10 years in corporate security, risk management, or a related field with a strong understanding of physical security, information security, and cybersecurity principles.

Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree or professional certifications or memberships such as ASIS, NIMS, CSM, CISSP, CISM, CPP, or other relevant credentials (preferred but not required).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Strong knowledge of physical security, safety and risk, information security, and cybersecurity principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in crisis management, emergency preparedness, and incident response planning.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks and standards, including OSHA 10/30, HIPAA, ISO, SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, and related compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage effective security strategies, policies, and technology solutions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with law enforcement agencies, security staff contractors, attend industry conferences, and identify emerging technologies and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to assess complex situations and recommend effective solutions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze safety and security data trends to proactively identify emerging risks and recommend strategic mitigation measures.
  • Strong capability to evaluate complex, multi factor safety or security situations and make timely, evidence based decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to present operating budgets and capital budgets, delivering clear, data driven reports to senior leadership that highlight key security risks, incidents, trends, and actionable recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate and engage effectively at all levels of the organization while maintaining a high level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to present complex information clearly and professionally to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Experienced in directing a blended workforcecomprising full time staff and contingent security professionalsto achieve operational and strategic objectives.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.


Salary Range: $112,240 - $200,629
