Job Purpose
To manage the daily operations of the waste management workshop, ensuring all vehicles, machinery, and equipment are maintained in safe, efficient, and cost-effective working condition. The role requires strong mechanical knowledge, technical expertise, and the ability to manage mechanics, spare parts, and workshop costs.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop Operations

Oversee day-to-day workshop activities for waste management vehicles and equipment (compactors, loaders, trucks, sweepers, etc.).

Plan and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.

Ensure minimum downtime and quick turnaround of vehicles and machinery.
Technical & Mechanical
-
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.

Provide technical guidance to mechanics and technicians.

Ensure proper repair standards and quality of work.
Team Management

Supervise and manage mechanics, technicians, and helpers.
-
Assign daily tasks and monitor productivity and performance.

Train and guide workshop staff to improve technical skills and safety.
Spare Parts & Store Control

Manage spare parts inventory and workshop store.
-
Ensure availability of critical spare parts and control stock levels.
-
Coordinate with procurement for parts and materials.
Cost Control & Reporting

Monitor and control workshop operational costs (spare parts, labor, repairs).

Optimize maintenance expenses without compromising safety and quality.

Maintain maintenance records, service logs, and cost reports.
Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with HSE standards and workshop safety procedures.

Maintain proper housekeeping and safe working environment.

Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
Qualifications
-
Diploma / Technical Certification in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

5–10 years of experience in workshop or fleet maintenance (waste management, heavy equipment, or transport preferred).
