Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Workshop Machinist to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining workshop machinery including lathes, milling machines, presses, and related equipment to manufacture and modify precision components according to specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate conventional lathe, milling, drilling, and press machines safely and efficiently
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, job cards, and technical specifications
- Set up machines, select appropriate tools, and perform machining operations to required tolerances
- Measure and inspect finished components using measuring instruments (vernier, micrometer, gauges)
- Perform basic machine maintenance and report any faults or safety issues
- Ensure work is completed within required quality standards and timelines
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment
- Follow all company safety procedures and quality policies
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience as a Workshop Machinist
- Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) preferred
- Practical knowledge of lathe, milling, and press operations
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good understanding of machining tolerances and quality control
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with multiple types of conventional workshop machinery
- Basic understanding of tooling, materials, and cutting processes
- Good communication and teamwork skills
