Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Workshop Supervisor to oversee daily operations within our workshop environment. The ideal candidate is responsible for supervising daily operations in a steel fabrication workshop, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met. The role involves leading a team of fabricators, welders, and machinists while coordinating workflow, materials, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supervision & Team Leadership
- Oversee and coordinate the activities of welders, fabricators, and workshop staff
- Assign tasks based on priorities and workforce skills
- Train, mentor, and evaluate team members
- Maintain discipline and productivity within the workshop
2. Production Management
- Plan and schedule fabrication work to meet deadlines
- Interpret technical drawings and ensure accurate fabrication
- Monitor workflow and adjust schedules as needed
- Ensure optimal use of materials and minimize waste
3. Quality Control
- Inspect ongoing and completed work to ensure it meets specifications
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements
- Address defects or rework issues promptly
4. Health & Safety Compliance
- Enforce workplace health and safety regulations
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safe operation of machinery
- Report and investigate incidents or near misses
5. Materials & Equipment Management
- Coordinate material requirements with procurement/store teams
- Monitor inventory levels and avoid shortages
- Ensure machinery and tools are maintained and in good working condition
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain production records and daily reports
- Track job progress and report to management
- Assist with project planning and cost control
Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven experience in steel fabrication and welding
- Previous supervisory or foreman experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques and workshop practices
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations
- Good leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £42,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
