Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Wound Treatment Nurse to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will specialize in assessing, planning, and implementing advanced wound care strategies to promote healing and improve patient outcomes. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive wound assessments, including evaluating wound size, depth, exudate, and signs of infection using evidence-based techniques.
- Develop and implement individualized wound care plans aligned with best practices and patient needs.
- Apply advanced wound treatment modalities such as dressings, debridement, compression therapy, and skin grafts when appropriate.
- Monitor healing progress regularly, adjusting treatment strategies based on physiological responses and diagnostic evaluations.
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams—including physicians, physical therapists, and case managers—to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on wound care procedures, infection prevention, and lifestyle modifications to support healing at home.
- Maintain meticulous medical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Skills
- Proven experience in wound management within hospital settings or long-term care facilities.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and infectious disease control related to wound healing.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation.
- Skilled in advanced nursing procedures including IV infusion, catheter care, sterile technique, and medication administration.
- Familiarity with ICD-9/10 coding for accurate medical record keeping and billing processes.
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or chronic conditions such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease is highly desirable.
