We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Part-Time Writing Lab Coordinator to lead and inspire our seminary’s writing support services. In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of the writing lab, foster a supportive environment for students working on diverse writing projects, and collaborate with faculty to enhance writing instruction across disciplines. Your leadership will empower students to develop their writing skills, succeed academically, and build confidence in their communication abilities. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to combine project management, educational expertise, and administrative skills in a vibrant academic setting.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
· Oversee the daily operations of the Writing Lab, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for students
· Coordinate staffing coverage as needed
· Develop and implement writing support services, including in-person and online workshops
· Recruit, train, and supervise writing tutors and other staff as assigned
· Collaborate with faculty to integrate writing support into course curricula
· Assess student needs and provide individualized guidance on writing and citation practices as well as best practices associated with AI, ChatGPT, plagiarism software, etc.
· Evaluate the effectiveness and usage of Writing Lab services and implement improvements as needed in consultation with the Assistant Dean of Studies and community Life
· Promote Writing Lab resources to both residential and distance-learning students
· Maintain and update resources supporting diverse writing styles and genres across all academic programs (MA, MDiv, STM, DMin, PhD)
Qualifications
Required:
· Bachelor’s degree in English, Writing, or a related field (master’s degree preferred)
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in writing, editing, or supervising writing-related work—experience in seminary or religious/theological writing preferred)
· Experience teaching or tutoring writing at the secondary or post-secondary level
· Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
· Highly skilled in Microsoft Word, Microsoft online, Google Docs including document formatting, the creation and use of templates, and tracking changes
· Extensive knowledge of Chicago/Turabian style; familiarity with MLA and APA citation systems
· Experience with Zoom, Teams, Canvas, appointment scheduling software, and SIS systems
· Experience with ESL and other language-based learning disabilities
