Yacht Captain

Position Overview

The Captain is responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional operation of a privately-owned yacht. This position covers navigation, crew leadership, maintenance oversight, and ensuring an exceptional guest experience while maintaining the highest standards of safety, discretion, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

1. Navigation & Safety

• Command the yacht safely during all operations.

• Conduct route planning, weather analysis, fuel planning, and docking maneuvers.

• Ensure compliance with all UAE maritime regulations.

• Organize and run safety drills (fire, man-overboard, emergency procedures).

• Maintain and inspect safety equipment regularly.

2. Maintenance & Technical Oversight

• Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for all systems.

• Coordinate with mechanics, divers, and service providers as needed.

• Maintain the vessel in immaculate operational and visual condition.

• Monitor inventory of tools, spare parts, and technical supplies.

3. Crew Management

• Supervise and train crew members (deckhand/stewardess).

• Set watch schedules, duties, and ensure high performance standards.

• Foster a disciplined, respectful, and professional environment on board.

4. Guest Service

• Ensure smooth, safe, and comfortable experiences for the owner and guests.

• Assist with watersports, tender driving, and guest activities.

• Maintain strict confidentiality and professional conduct at all times.

5. Administration

• Maintain logs: navigation, fuel, maintenance, expenses.

• Track operational budgets and coordinate required purchases.

• Keep all vessel documentation valid and in compliance.

Requirements:

Certifications

• Valid Captain’s License (minimum RYA Yachtmaster or equivalent).

• STCW and all required UAE maritime certifications.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years yachting experience in a Captain or First Officer role.

• Strong knowledge of UAE waters, marinas, and regulations.

• Skilled in tender handling and docking larger vessels.

Skills
