Yard Technician

The Facilities Maintenance Technician assists the Operations Coordinator by maintaining eFUEL’s San Jose facility. This role is responsible for all aspects of yard maintenance and fueling all company trucks daily, in preparation for each day’s scheduled routes.

Essential Functions

1. Work in a safe manner and recognize unsafe situations. Take appropriate action to ensure safety of themselves and others at the facility.

2. Effectively communicate issues to management and operations.

3. Provide excellent customer service to customers that visit the yard. Fill tanks for onsite customers and prepare receipts.

4. Fill up eFUEL trucks with diesel fuel each day.

5. Adhere to onsite regulatory requirements for a large quantity hazardous waste generator location.

6. Assist maintenance department with general housekeeping.

7. Ensure driver room is clean and orderly.

8. Ensure that the yard is free of trash and debris.

9. Regularly empty trash receptacles from shop and facility into debris boxes.

10. Clean, wash and wax trucks. Clean and vacuum the interior of trucks.

11. Proactively report any visible issues with the fleet to management (such as physical damage, leaks, etc.).

12. Light facility and vehicle maintenance.

13. Follow all company policies and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

Work is regularly performed outdoors on the truck yard and shop and is regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise. This role routinely uses fueling equipment such as fuel pumps, hoses, and nozzles. This role also routinely uses cleaning supplies and equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must also lift and/or move items up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected hours of work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm or 7:00am to 4:00pm. Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required.

Travel

Minimal travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

1. Highschool or technical school education; or two years of fueling, facilities maintenance or sanitation experience is required.
