Youth coding and Web design Instructor

The Youth Coding and Web Design Instructor will provide guided instruction to incarcerated juveniles at the Juvenile Justice Services Center in Philadelphia. The main responsibility of the instructor will be to teach students the basic coding elements of web design. This is an entry-level position that requires a passion for teaching, an understanding of coding, and experience working with youth. The ideal candidate will be able to create a positive learning environment that encourages students to learn and grow, while also instilling discipline and structure. The instructor will work closely with the Juvenile Justice Services Center staff to ensure that all curriculum and safety requirements are met, and will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of incarcerated youth by providing them with valuable skills that can lead to future employment opportunities.


Responsibilities

As the Youth Coding and Web Design Instructor at the Juvenile Justice Services Center, you will be responsible for providing guided instruction to incarcerated juveniles on basic coding elements of web design using an LMS supplied by BSD education. Your responsibilities will include designing lesson plans and activities, facilitating interactive and engaging classes, and assessing student progress and achievement. You will work closely with a team of educators and administrators to ensure the program aligns with organizational goals and meets the needs of our students.


Qualifications

The youth coding and web design instructor should have experience teaching youth, particularly those who may have had limited access to education and technology. Strong knowledge of web design and coding concepts is necessary. While a degree in education or computer science is preferred, it is not mandatory. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, be patient, and possess the ability to adapt to diverse learning styles. Being able to foster a safe and supportive learning environment for incarcerated juveniles is of utmost importance.
