Youth Development Professional

We are hiring staff for Summer Camp programs for elementary, middle and high school aged youth. The title for this position is Youth Development Professional.

Starting pay is $14.50/hour and part-time staff receive 40 hours of paid time off after 90 days of employment.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT STAFF: Under the supervision of the Unit Director, Youth Development Professionals have the responsibility of providing daily programs, services and activities for Boys & Girls Club members ages 5 - 12 . These services and activities are consistent with the organization's youth development mission, and Youth Development Professionals are responsible for developing positive, productive relationships with Club members through guided activities and programs, academic support, and mentorship.

The dates for Summer Camp at both Clubs will be June 15th through July 31st and the scheduled work hours are below:

9th Street, SE Roanoke; Monday through Friday; opens at 7:00AM and closes at 6:00PM. There are two shifts during these hours. This Club has students from 1st grade through 12th grade. The dates for this site will be June 15th through July 31st.

Vinton Baptist Church serving Herman L Horn Elementary & W E Cundiff Elementary; Monday through Friday; opens at 7:00AM and closes at 6:00PM. There are two shifts during these hours. This Club has students from 1st grade through 5th grade.

Requirements:

• A copy of your high school or college diploma or GED is required. Must be able to pass both state and federal background checks and be fingerprinted. This is a physical role with lots of moving around. Applicant must be able to plan lessons for their class daily and travel with students to field trips.
• As a part-time staff member at Boys & Girls Club you can expect a regular and reliable schedule with direct oversight and interaction with young people in our community. The ideal candidate will be confident, self-sufficient, and prepared to set a good example for young people. Previous youth development experience is preferred but not required. Excellent candidates include those who are interested in or have had experience in childcare, day care, youth groups, babysitting, kid's programs, mentoring programs, or other child/kid and youth focused activities. Successful candidates must enjoy working with youth to help them achieve academic success, learn to be kind and helpful in the community, and promote a healthy lifestyle.
