Youth Development Specialist

Duties

  • Plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development for children and youth
  • Manage classroom or activity space effectively, ensuring safety and positive behavior management through proven techniques
  • Provide first aid and respond promptly to any minor injuries or emergencies during program hours
  • Support children with special needs by adapting activities and collaborating with educators trained in special education methods
  • Facilitate engaging programs such as sports coaching, theater arts, tutoring sessions, or Christian counseling to enrich youth experiences
  • Foster a welcoming environment that encourages participation, teamwork, and respect among children of diverse backgrounds
  • Maintain detailed records of attendance, behavior incidents, and progress reports for each participant

Experience

  • Prior experience working with children in educational settings such as daycare, preschool, camp programs, or after-school activities
  • Knowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management strategies
  • Skills in classroom management and creating inclusive environments for children with varying needs
  • Certification in first aid and CPR required; additional certifications in special education or child care are a plus
  • Experience in sports coaching, theater arts, babysitting, tutoring or Christian counseling is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children of all ages and backgrounds in a dynamic setting
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with parents, colleagues, and community partners
