Zookeeper Positions – Full-Time & Part-Time Wilderness Trails Zoo – Birch Run, MI Full-Time & Part-Time | Entry Level & Lead Roles Available Join the team that brings wildlife to life! Wilderness Trails Zoo is seeking hardworking, motivated individuals to join our Animal Care Team. We’re hiring for Entry-Level and Lead Keeper positions to help provide exceptional daily care for a wide variety of animals — from domestic hoofstock to exotic wildlife. Position Overview Zookeepers are responsible for the daily husbandry, feeding, observation, and enrichment of animals under their care, while ensuring the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and welfare. Responsibilities include: Daily feeding, cleaning, and habitat maintenance Observing animal behavior and reporting health or welfare concerns Assisting with training, enrichment, and behavioral observation Providing accurate record-keeping and communication with management Interacting professionally with guests during encounters or tours Assisting with exhibit upkeep, grounds care, and seasonal projects Requirements Must pass a drug screening and background check Must have reliable transportation Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.) Must be physically capable of demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and extended walking Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a self-starter attitude required Must be dependable, motivated, and able to work independently and as part of a team Weekend and holiday availability required Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a zoological, agricultural, or animal care facility Experience with hoofstock (domestic and exotic) a strong plus Leadership or supervisory experience for Lead Keeper applicants Willingness to learn and grow within the organization — we will train the right candidate! Schedule & Pay Positions Available: Full-time and part-time Shifts: Variable daytime hours, including weekends and holidays Compensation: Based on experience and role (Entry-Level or Lead) Opportunities for advancement
