Title: Automotive Repair Technician – Level A
Position Summary
The Level A Automotive Repair Technician is a senior-level technician responsible for advanced diagnostics, complex repairs, and mentoring junior technicians. This role requires expert technical knowledge, strong diagnostic ability, and a commitment to quality, safety, and efficiency. Level A Technicians are expected to perform at the highest technical standard while supporting shop productivity and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities Advanced Diagnostics & Repairs
· Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and drivability issues.
· Perform advanced engine performance, transmission, steering, suspension, HVAC, and brake repairs.
· Troubleshoot electrical systems, networks (CAN), and computerized vehicle systems.
· Interpret scan tool data, wiring diagrams, and technical service information.
Technical Leadership & Support
· Serve as a technical resource for B- and C-Level technicians.
· Assist with difficult diagnostics and comebacks.
· Support training, mentoring, and skills development of junior technicians.
· Communicate effectively with service advisors regarding repair needs and timelines.
Quality Control & Efficiency
· Complete repairs accurately and efficiently according to shop standards.
· Ensure first-time fix accuracy and minimize comebacks.
· Perform road tests and post-repair inspections as required.
· Maintain productivity, efficiency, and proficiency targets.
Safety, Compliance & Shop Standards
· Follow all safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and environmental regulations.
· Properly handle hazardous materials and waste disposal.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
· Use shop equipment and tools properly and report any issues.
Documentation & Systems
· Accurately document diagnostics, repair procedures, and labor performed.
· Use shop management systems and digital inspection tools as required.
· Stay current with service bulletins, recalls, and technical updates.
Required QualificationsEducation & Certifications
· High school diploma or equivalent (required).
· 5 current Automotive Service Excellence (A.S.E.) certifications are required for this position.
· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Experience
· 8–10+ years of professional automotive repair experience.
· Proven experience with advanced diagnostics and complex repair work.
· Experience working independently with minimal supervision.

Physical & Work Requirements
· Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift up to [50–75] pounds.
· Manual dexterity and use of hand and power tools.
· Ability to work in a shop environment with exposure to noise, fumes, and varying temperatures.
· Ability to drive customer vehicles for testing purposes.

Compensation
· $32-$35 per clock hour
· Incentives from $5-$10 additional labor hour based on efficiency
· Occasional spiffs as designated by management
Pay: $32.00 - $35.00 per hour
