Job SpecificationTitle: Automotive Repair Technician &ndash; Level APosition SummaryThe Level A Automotive Repair Technician is a senior-level technician responsible for advanced diagnostics, complex repairs, and mentoring junior technicians. This role requires expert technical knowledge, strong diagnostic ability, and a commitment to quality, safety, and efficiency. Level A Technicians are expected to perform at the highest technical standard while supporting shop productivity and customer satisfaction.Key Responsibilities Advanced Diagnostics &amp; Repairs&middot; Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and drivability issues.&middot; Perform advanced engine performance, transmission, steering, suspension, HVAC, and brake repairs.&middot; Troubleshoot electrical systems, networks (CAN), and computerized vehicle systems.&middot; Interpret scan tool data, wiring diagrams, and technical service information.Technical Leadership &amp; Support&middot; Serve as a technical resource for B- and C-Level technicians.&middot; Assist with difficult diagnostics and comebacks.&middot; Support training, mentoring, and skills development of junior technicians.&middot; Communicate effectively with service advisors regarding repair needs and timelines.Quality Control &amp; Efficiency&middot; Complete repairs accurately and efficiently according to shop standards.&middot; Ensure first-time fix accuracy and minimize comebacks.&middot; Perform road tests and post-repair inspections as required.&middot; Maintain productivity, efficiency, and proficiency targets.Safety, Compliance &amp; Shop Standards&middot; Follow all safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and environmental regulations.&middot; Properly handle hazardous materials and waste disposal.&middot; Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.&middot; Use shop equipment and tools properly and report any issues.Documentation &amp; Systems&middot; Accurately document diagnostics, repair procedures, and labor performed.&middot; Use shop management systems and digital inspection tools as required.&middot; Stay current with service bulletins, recalls, and technical updates.Required QualificationsEducation &amp; Certifications&middot; High school diploma or equivalent (required).&middot; 5 current Automotive Service Excellence (A.S.E.) certifications are required for this position.&middot; Valid driver&rsquo;s license with a clean driving record.Experience&middot; 8&ndash;10+ years of professional automotive repair experience.&middot; Proven experience with advanced diagnostics and complex repair work.&middot; Experience working independently with minimal supervision.Skills &amp; Competencies&middot; Expert-level diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.&middot; Strong understanding of modern vehicle systems and technology.&middot; Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.&middot; Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.&middot; Excellent time management and organizational abilities.&middot; Effective communication and teamwork skills.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)&middot; Diagnostic accuracy and first-time fix rate&middot; Comeback and warranty repair rate&middot; Productivity, efficiency, and proficiency&middot; Quality of documentation and repair notes&middot; Safety compliance and shop standards adherencePhysical &amp; Work Requirements&middot; Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift up to [50&ndash;75] pounds.&middot; Manual dexterity and use of hand and power tools.&middot; Ability to work in a shop environment with exposure to noise, fumes, and varying temperatures.&middot; Ability to drive customer vehicles for testing purposes.Core Competencies&middot; Technical Mastery&middot; Problem Solving&middot; Attention to Detail&middot; Reliability &amp; Accountability&middot; Mentorship &amp; Team Support&middot; Safety AwarenessCompensation&middot; $32-$35 per clock hour&middot; Incentives from $5-$10 additional labor hour based on efficiency&middot; Occasional spiffs as designated by managementPay: $32.00 - $35.00 per hourWork Location: In person
