Metal Fabricator

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Metal Fabricator performs and/or instructs fabrication and forging skills (both rough and finish) of steel and other metals. This role manipulates glass and Plexiglas according to the needs of the project, with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Constructs or repairs of all metal structures including gates, railings, furniture, and light fixtures (both interior and exterior), rough and finish decorative metal work, with minimal or no supervision.
• Constructs jigs, dies and tooling to facilitate completion of projects.
• Provides inventory status and makes regular recommendations for required parts and supplies.
• Orders parts and supplies when necessary.
• Trains associates in safe and proper procedures of metal fabrication and forging tools, equipment, repairs and construction techniques in accordance with local, state and OSHA requirements.
• Provides design and engineering suggestions to facilitate completion of projects.
• Keeps supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance so prompt corrective action can be taken when appropriate.
• ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

• Regular walking, standing, and lifting up to 50lbs

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

• Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
