Position SummaryA.C.T. Services is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Staff Accountant to join our growing team in Indianapolis. This position is primarily in person at our Indianapolis office, which supports collaboration, training, and team connection; limited remote flexibility may be available after a successful onboarding periodKey ResponsibilitiesThe Staff Accountant will be responsible for a variety of accounting and administrative finance duties, including:<ul><li>Maintain accurate general ledger records and assist with month-end and year-end close processes.</li><li>Prepare and post journal entries as needed.</li><li>Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, balance sheet accounts, and other financial records.</li><li>Assist with accounts payable, including invoice review, coding, vendor records, payment preparation, and issue resolution.</li><li>Assist with accounts receivable, including customer invoicing, payment posting, account follow-up, and aging review.</li><li>Review financial transactions for accuracy, proper documentation, and appropriate account classification.</li><li>Support payroll-related accounting entries and reconciliations, as needed.</li><li>Assist with preparing internal financial reports, schedules, and account analyses.</li><li>Maintain organized accounting files, records, and supporting documentation.</li><li>Help monitor company expenses and ensure compliance with internal procedures.</li><li>Assist with sales tax, use tax, or other regulatory filings, where applicable.</li><li>Support audits, tax preparation, and external accountant requests by gathering documentation and reports.</li><li>Identify discrepancies or process issues and communicate them promptly to management.</li><li>Maintain confidentiality of company, employee, vendor, and customer financial information.</li><li>Perform other accounting, finance, and administrative duties as assigned.</li></ul>Required Qualifications<ul><li>Associate&rsquo;s or bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.</li><li>Prior accounting and bookkeeping experience required; experience level may vary based on education and skill set.</li><li>Working knowledge of general accounting principles.</li><li>Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger activity.</li><li>Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Microsoft 365, Excel and general office software.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and accuracy.</li><li>Ability to meet deadlines and manage recurring tasks.</li><li>Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.</li><li>Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.</li><li>Must be able to work locally and reliably report to the company&rsquo;s office during scheduled work hours. Occasional remote work may be available after successful completion of probationary period.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Accounting or Finance.</li><li>Three or more years of accounting experience.</li><li>Experience in a service-based business, construction, real estate, logistics, professional services, or related industry.</li><li>Familiarity with payroll accounting, sales tax, inventory, job costing, or project-based accounting.</li><li>Intermediate Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data review.</li><li>Experience assisting with month-end close and financial statement preparation.</li></ul>Skills and CompetenciesThe successful candidate should demonstrate:<ul><li>Accuracy and attention to detail.</li><li>Reliability and accountability.</li><li>Strong numerical and analytical skills.</li><li>Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.</li><li>Clear communication and teamwork.</li><li>Professional judgment and discretion.</li><li>Willingness to learn company systems and improve processes.</li><li>Commitment to maintaining accurate and timely financial records.</li></ul>Work EnvironmentThis is a full-time, local position based at A.C.T. Services&rsquo; office in Indianapolis, IN. The role will primarily be performed in a professional office environment during regular business hours.
