<b>Job Description</b><br>
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to join our team at the Summit Bridge near Wilmington, DE. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing safety programs on federal construction projects, ensuring compliance with US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) EM 385-1-1<b>, </b>OSHA regulations, and company policies.<br>
<b>Key Responsibilities</b><ul><li>
This position requires the worker to be on the site (no remote).</li><li>
Implement and oversee the project&rsquo;s Accident Prevention Plan (APP) in accordance with EM 385-1-1 standards.</li><li>
Review/Approve Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and ensure crews understand AHAs before work.</li><li>
Conduct daily safety inspections and ensure the worksite complies with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and company safety policies.</li><li>
Authority to stop work when unsafe conditions are identified.</li><li>
Develop and lead project-specific safety training and toolbox talks for on-site personnel.</li><li>
Monitor compliance with fall protection, and other hazard-specific requirements.</li><li>
Investigate incidents, near misses, and ensure proper documentation and corrective actions are taken.</li><li>
Maintain accurate safety records, including daily safety logs, training certifications, and inspection reports.</li><li>
Serve as the point of contact for safety-related issues, liaising with site management, subcontractors, and federal representatives.</li><li>
Conduct and document weekly safety meetings with project stakeholders.</li><li>
Provide weekly safety reports to the Corporate Director of Safety.</li></ul></div><div></div><div><b>
Required Qualifications</b><ul><li>
SSHO candidate must meet EM 385-1-1 SSHO qualifications</li><li>
Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience, with at least 3 years on projects requiring EM 385-1-1 compliance (in the past 10 years)</li><li>
Must meet EM 385-1-1 SSHO continuing education requirements (minimum 24 hours of documented safety training within the past 5 years)</li><li>
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Card (required)</li><li>
First Aid/CPR certified (required)</li><li>
ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor Certification
</li><li>24-hour Competent Person for Fall Protection training that complies with EM 385-11 section 21</li><li>
Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, multi-tasking, communication and conflict management skills</li><li>
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to enforce safety policies effectively</li><li>
Strong understanding of EM 385-1-1, OSHA standards, and hazard analysis processes.</li><li>
Proficiency in creating and maintaining safety documentation, including incident reports and training records</li><li>
Computer knowledge in sending emails, daily reports, construction look-ahead schedules, and SmartPhone/tablet use</li><li>
Strong work ethic with a passion to fulfill commitments</li><li>
Professional demeanor and commitment to safety excellence</li><li>
Sincere obligation to client satisfaction</li><li>
Work will also require working from heights, working on and over water, varying weather conditions and around heavy equipment</li><li>
A pre-employment drug screen, physical, &amp; functional capacity exam are required.</li></ul><b>
Preferred Experience</b><ul><li>
Previous experience on <b>lock and dam, or heavy civil projects</b>.</li><li>
Knowledge of federal safety regulations and environmental compliance.</li><li>
Experience with lead coatings removal</li></ul><b>
Preferred Certifications</b><ul><li>
Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)</li><li>
Safety Trained Supervisor (STS)</li></ul><b>
