Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to join our team at the Summit Bridge near Wilmington, DE. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing safety programs on federal construction projects, ensuring compliance with US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) EM 385-1-1
, OSHA regulations, and company policies.
Key Responsibilities-
This position requires the worker to be on the site (no remote).

Implement and oversee the project’s Accident Prevention Plan (APP) in accordance with EM 385-1-1 standards.

Review/Approve Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and ensure crews understand AHAs before work.

Conduct daily safety inspections and ensure the worksite complies with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and company safety policies.

Authority to stop work when unsafe conditions are identified.

Develop and lead project-specific safety training and toolbox talks for on-site personnel.

Monitor compliance with fall protection, and other hazard-specific requirements.

Investigate incidents, near misses, and ensure proper documentation and corrective actions are taken.

Maintain accurate safety records, including daily safety logs, training certifications, and inspection reports.

Serve as the point of contact for safety-related issues, liaising with site management, subcontractors, and federal representatives.

Conduct and document weekly safety meetings with project stakeholders.

Provide weekly safety reports to the Corporate Director of Safety.
