Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) &ndash; Gastroenterology ClinicPosition Summary: The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) plays a vital role in supporting providers and ensuring smooth daily operations in a gastroenterology clinic. This position involves direct patient care, clinical preparation, administrative support, and coordination of GI-specific diagnostic procedures. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and able to thrive in a fast-paced specialty environment.Key Responsibilities - Patient Care &amp; Clinical Support<ul><li>Room patients, obtain vital signs, and document medical history, medication lists, allergies, and presenting symptoms.</li><li>Prepare patients for GI consultations and procedures by explaining expectations and assisting with comfort and privacy.</li><li>Provide patient education on bowel prep instructions, procedure expectations, and follow-up care under supervision.</li></ul>Clinical Procedures<ul><li>Assist providers with in-office gastroenterology procedures (e.g., anoscopy, hemorrhoid treatments, fecal occult blood testing).</li><li>Collect and process lab specimens, including stool samples and breath test samples.</li></ul>Workflow &amp; Clinic Efficiency<ul><li>Maintain organized patient flow to minimize wait times and support timely provider schedules.</li><li>Track and manage recall lists, diagnostic test follow-ups, and outstanding labs.</li><li>Assist with scheduling diagnostic studies such as colonoscopies, endoscopies, imaging, and specialty tests.</li></ul>Documentation &amp; Administrative Tasks<ul><li>Document all clinical tasks and patient interactions accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).</li><li>Communicate with pharmacies regarding prescription refills, prior authorizations, and medication clarification.</li><li>Ensure all forms, consents, and pre-procedure documentation are completed and uploaded correctly.</li><li>Handle incoming patient calls related to symptoms, test prep questions, and results under provider guidance.</li></ul>Safety &amp; Compliance<ul><li>Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control protocols at all times.</li><li>Maintain clean exam rooms and ensure equipment and supplies are stocked and within expiration dates.</li><li>Assist with inventory management and ordering medical supplies as needed.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or equivalent credential (CMA, RMA, NCMA).</li><li>Previous experience in an outpatient specialty clinic, preferably gastroenterology or internal medicine, is highly desirable.</li><li>Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.</li><li>Strong communication, multitasking, and patient-care skills.</li><li>Ability to handle sensitive GI-related conditions with professionalism and empathy.</li><li>CPR certification required (or obtained upon hire).</li></ul>Key Competencies<ul><li>Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills</li><li>Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation</li><li>Ability to multitask in a high-volume clinical environment</li><li>Knowledge of GI procedures, terminology, and prep instructions (preferred)</li><li>Team-oriented and dependable work ethic</li><li>Commitment to patient confidentiality and safety protocols</li></ul>Work Environment<ul><li>Fast-paced gastroenterology specialty clinic</li><li>Frequent interaction with patients undergoing sensitive or complex GI evaluations</li><li>Requires periods of standing, walking, assisting with procedures, and moving between exam rooms</li></ul>Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hourExpected hours: 32 &ndash; 37 per weekBenefits:<ul><li>401(k)</li><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Vision insurance</li></ul>Work Location: In person
