Job vacancy for School CounselorJob Location: Bandra, MumbaiReports to: Counselling HeadJob description:About Aseema: Aseema is a Mumbai-based NGO that is committed to equipping children from marginalised communities with high quality, value-based education, enabling the development of their limitless potential. We run three municipal schools in Mumbai in partnership with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), and one school for tribal children in Igatpuri. Aseema reaches out to 4,400 children living in vulnerable circumstances in urban slums and tribal communities.Job Responsibilities:<ul><li>To take guidance from the Head / Consultant Child Psychotherapist on all matters related to the children.</li><li>To identify children in need of counseling.</li><li>To conduct individual and group counseling sessions for children as required.</li><li>To maintain systematic records of all counseling sessions and update the case study files at the end of each term.</li><li>To provide monthly updates to the teachers on the progress of children in Counseling.</li><li>To conduct screening for external referrals and/or administer psychometric tests for children as required.</li><li>To make external referrals for therapy as required and to coordinate with the Social Workers to ensure children attend.</li><li>To conduct developmental assessment with pre primary children.</li><li>To report on the assessment findings.</li><li>To accompany children to specialists as and when required, in consultation with the Head.</li><li>To use psychometric tools for the purpose of career guidance and to hold follow up meetings with children/parents/staff to discuss results.</li><li>To ensure that teachers complete filling up of LD checklist for all children</li><li>To organize screening for learning disabilities and shortlist children showing max. red flags</li><li>To administer informal assessment on the shortlisted children and note down observations.</li><li>To decide on the children who need a formal LD assessment</li><li>To maintain a database of the process.</li><li>To undertake LD testing and Sion hospital duties in coordination with the CWC.</li><li>To accompany children for testing wherever Psychiatric Evaluation is required.</li></ul>Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications<ul><li>Masters in Psychology (Counselling Psychology) preferred</li><li>Minimum 2 years of Counseling experience is required</li><li>Good communication skills</li><li>Immediate joiners preferred</li></ul>Interested candidates residing in Mumbai can send their updated resume mentioning the position applied for, with current and expected salary to hr(attherateaseema).org.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentBenefits:<ul><li>Food provided</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Provident Fund</li></ul>Application Question(s):<ul><li>Please mention your notice period.</li><li>Please provide your residence location.</li></ul>Education:<ul><li>Bachelor's (Required)</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>Counselling: 2 years (Required)</li></ul>Language:<ul><li>English (Required)</li></ul>Work Location: In person
