We integrate design, construction, and execution to deliver high-quality, efficient, and thoughtfully designed spaces.Position OverviewAker Development is seeking a highly capable Interior Designer to lead and execute design selections across multiple residential projects. This role is responsible for translating project vision into cohesive, buildable design packages&mdash;from interior finishes to exterior materials and landscape concepts&mdash;while coordinating closely with construction teams and vendors.The ideal candidate combines strong design sensibility with practical construction awareness and can operate effectively in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign &amp; Selections<ul><li>Develop cohesive interior and exterior design concepts aligned with project goals and market positioning</li><li>Select and specify:</li><li>Interior finishes (flooring, tile, paint, wall treatments)</li><li>Exterior finishes (siding, trim, color palettes)</li><li>Cabinetry materials and configurations</li><li>Surface materials (countertops, backsplashes, etc.)</li><li>Lighting and plumbing fixtures</li><li>Hardware (door, cabinet, bath accessories)</li><li>Produce clear and consistent color schemes and finish palettes across units and projects</li></ul>Space Planning &amp; Design Development<ul><li>Provide furniture layouts and space planning as needed</li><li>Design accent walls and feature elements to elevate product differentiation</li><li>Contribute to landscape design concepts in coordination with project goals</li></ul>Visualization &amp; Presentation<ul><li>Create renderings, visualizations, and design boards for internal and external use</li><li>Prepare presentation materials that clearly communicate design intent</li></ul>Coordination &amp; Execution<ul><li>Work closely with internal teams (construction, project management) to ensure design feasibility and execution</li><li>Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to source materials and confirm specifications</li><li>Interface with platforms, procurement systems, and vendors to manage selections and ordering workflows</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>3+ years of experience in residential interior design (multifamily or infill preferred)</li><li>Strong portfolio demonstrating finish selections, cohesive design packages, and built work</li><li>Proficiency in design and visualization tools (e.g., SketchUp, Revit, AutoCAD, Enscape, Lumion, or similar)</li><li>Experience producing renderings and presentation-quality visuals</li><li>Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and buildability considerations</li><li>Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously</li></ul>Key Traits<ul><li>High attention to detail and design consistency</li><li>Strong decision-making ability in a fast-paced environment</li><li>Practical, execution-oriented mindset (not purely conceptual)</li><li>Effective communicator with both design and construction teams</li><li>Ability to balance creativity with budget and timeline constraints</li></ul>Benefits &amp; CompensationWe are a growing company with a dynamic and supportive team culture.
