 Atlantic Group is hiring a Purchasing Assistant in Trenton, NJ, for our client, a leading manufacturing company. In this full-time role, you&rsquo;ll manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee purchasing operations to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery of materials. Collaborate with production, quality, and finance teams while maintaining ERP documentation and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced environment.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 Responsibilities as the Purchasing Assistant:
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 
 Vendor Management:
 
 Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure consistent product quality, food safety compliance, and reliable performance.
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Contract Negotiation:
 
 Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost savings and secure favorable agreements.
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Inventory Control:
 
 Monitor inventory levels, create purchase orders based on forecasts, and prevent shortages or overstocking to support production needs.
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Documentation &amp; Systems:
 
 Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor databases, and requisitions within spreadsheets and ERP systems.
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Cross-Functional Collaboration:
 
 Partner with Quality Assurance, Production, and Finance teams to align purchasing strategies with overall operational goals.
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 
 
 
 
 Qualifications for the Purchasing Assistant:
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 
 Education:
 
 Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Agricultural or Food Science preferred.
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Experience:
 
 5+ years of purchasing experience in food manufacturing or supply chain operations.
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Technical Skills:
 
 Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP or procurement systems with knowledge of HACCP and food safety protocols.
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Industry Knowledge:
 
 Understanding of food manufacturing processes, ingredient sourcing, and supplier compliance requirements.
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Skills &amp; Attributes:
 
 Strong negotiator with analytical and organizational abilities, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively in high-pressure environments.
 </li>
