Job Title: HR / Payroll Clerk Location: Anchorage, AK Department: HR / Finance Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly Pay Range: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour (depending on experience)About Us: Bailey&rsquo;s Furniture is a locally-owned and trusted community business dedicated to helping Alaskans create comfortable, stylish homes. We&rsquo;re now seeking an organized, detail-oriented HR / Payroll Clerk to join our team and play a key role in payroll processing, HR administration, and ensuring our team is supported and compensated accurately.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Process full-cycle payroll for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.</li><li>Run commission calculations in coordination with sales leadership.</li><li>Review and approve timecards, overtime, and PTO requests; ensure compliance with company policy and state/federal regulations.</li><li>Manage employee onboarding (new hire paperwork, benefits enrollment, employee orientation) and off-boarding (exit paperwork, final pay, termination checklists).</li><li>Maintain accurate employee records (personnel files, status changes, benefit elections, termination records).</li><li>Work closely with our external HR provider when complex employee issues or policy questions arise.</li><li>Participate in benefits administration, assist employees with questions about payroll or HR matters.</li><li>Reconcile payroll entries with finance/accounts payable and support year-end processes (e.g., W-2s, 1099s).</li><li>Generate and report HR and payroll metrics to management (headcount, turnover, payroll cost by department).</li><li>Support compliance with employment laws (wage/hour, overtime, recordkeeping).</li><li>Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in payroll and HR workflows.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate&rsquo;s or Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Accounting, HR, or Business preferred.</li><li>Proven experience (2+ years) in payroll processing and HR or payroll clerical functions.</li><li>Familiarity with time-keeping systems, payroll software, commission structures; experience with HRIS a plus.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy with numbers and data.</li><li>Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to interact with employees, management, external providers.</li><li>Knowledge of Alaska state and federal wage &amp; hour laws preferred.</li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, and handle sensitive employee matters with professionalism.</li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable learning new software tools.</li></ul>What We Offer:<ul><li>Competitive hourly wage with growth potential.</li><li>Benefits package (if applicable &ndash; list health, dental, retirement, PTO etc).</li><li>Supportive team environment with strong values and community commitment.</li><li>Opportunity to grow within a dynamic, locally-focused company.</li></ul>Bailey&rsquo;s Furniture is an equal-opportunity employer and encourages applications from all qualified individuals.Job Type: Full-timeBase Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hourExpected hours: 40 per weekBenefits:<ul><li>401(k)</li><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Employee discount</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Health savings account</li><li>Life insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Vision insurance</li></ul>Work Location: In person
