*Applicants must submit a complete application, type AR driving record, and resume by email by April 3rd, 2026 at 5:00 PM to be considered for the position.Bastrop County ESD #2 is accepting applications for (2) Wildfire Technician (Senior) to join the departments Wildfire Division. The position will be tasked to work a Squad Leader or Lead Firefighter on our Hand Crew/Fuels Crew. All required personal protective equipment, and training will be provided by the department. Start date is negotiable.<ul><li>With the use of chainsaws and woodchippers install shaded fuel breaks to reduce, modify, and manage fuels within a designated area to lessen wildfire potential within the district.</li><li>Assist Crew Foreman with day-to-day leadership of the crew</li><li>Work with private landowners to create defensible space around homes.</li><li>Participate in community outreach and chipping events</li><li>Wildfire suppression and mop-up</li><li>Work as a team to manage project timelines</li><li>Participate in physical training required to meet and maintain job performance expectations.</li><li>Upkeep of all issued PPE, daily equipment maintenance and checks</li></ul>Minimum Qualifications:<ul><li>Must be 18 years of age or older</li><li>Must be a US citizen</li><li>Must have a valid class C driver's license</li><li>Must have a High School Diploma or GED</li><li>Must pass a drug test following job offer</li><li>Must pass a physical exam following job offer</li><li>2 years of wildland fire experience</li><li>Must have NWCG S-130/S-190 course</li><li>Must have ICS-100, ICS-200, IS-700, and IS-800 courses at time of hire</li><li>Must be NWCG FAL3 Qualified</li><li>Complete Arduous Work Capacity Test (3 mile walk with 45 pounds in 45 minutes or less</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>Wildland and/or fuels Mitigation Experience</li><li>Qualified NWCG FFT1</li><li>Qualified NWCG ENGB</li><li>Qualified NWCG FAL2</li><li>Texas Commision on FIre Protection (TCFP) Basic Structural fire certification</li><li>Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B)</li></ul>Send resume, application, and driving record (type AR) to the following: crr@bastropesd2.orgFor any questions: crr@bastropesd2.orgJob Types: Full-time, TemporaryPay: $22.12 - $25.96 per hourBenefits:<ul><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Health savings account</li><li>Life insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Professional development assistance</li><li>Retirement plan</li><li>Vision insurance</li></ul>Supplemental Pay:<ul><li>Overtime pay</li></ul>Location:<ul><li>Paige, TX 78659 (Required)</li></ul>Ability to Commute:<ul><li>Paige, TX 78659 (Required)</li></ul>Ability to Relocate:<ul><li>Paige, TX 78659: Relocate before starting work (Required)</li></ul>Work Location: In person
