This role is ideal for a passionate storyteller who thrives in a dynamic, small-team environment and wants to make a direct impact on one of Wisconsin&rsquo;s most beloved destinations. The Marketing Specialist will manage a variety of projects spanning digital marketing, print publications, photography, video production, and event promotion&mdash;helping visitors discover Bayfield&rsquo;s natural beauty, vibrant culture, and welcoming community.Working closely with the Executive Director, Public Relations Manager, and Chamber members, this position plays a key role in developing and maintaining cohesive marketing campaigns that drive tourism, support local businesses, and elevate Bayfield&rsquo;s reputation as the Gateway to the Apostle Islands.Qualifications and SkillsEducation and Experience<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Marketing or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).</li><li>3+ years of experience in a marketing, communications, or creative role, preferably within tourism, destination marketing, or nonprofit sectors.</li><li>Experience developing and executing multi-channel marketing campaigns with measurable results.</li></ul>Technical and Creative Skills<ul><li>Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro or similar).</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneDrive, etc.)</li><li>Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress and customer</li><li>relationship management (CRM) tools.</li><li>Strong understanding of digital advertising and AI platforms (Grok, ChatGPT, Google Ads, Meta, programmatic) and analytics tools (Google Analytics, Meta Insights, etc.).</li><li>Working knowledge of email marketing platforms (Constant Contact, Mailchimp, or similar).</li><li>Excellent writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills with an eye for brand consistency and design.</li></ul>Professional Skills<ul><li>Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.</li><li>Strong presentation and communication skills&mdash;comfortable engaging with business owners, board members, and public audiences.</li><li>Experience developing and managing marketing plans and budgets.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to analyze marketing data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.</li><li>collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation.</li><li>Knowledge of Bayfield and the surrounding area, including local attractions, events, and community culture, is highly preferred.</li><li>Willingness to assist with events, community engagement, and visitor center operations as needed.</li></ul>Formal Role DetailsOversee and execute all marketing initiatives for the Bayfield Chamber and Visitor Bureau,maintaining a cohesive brand presence across digital, print, and in-person channels while driving tourism and supporting membership growth.Strategic Planning and Oversight<ul><li>Lead development and execution of the Chamber&rsquo;s annual marketing plan and marketing budget.</li><li>Collaborate with the Executive Director and Public Relations Manager on campaign strategies, creative direction, and organizational marketing goals.</li><li>Coordinate with external vendors and media partners to ensure timely ad placements, creative alignment, and cost efficiency.</li><li>Partner with regional tourism entities and local businesses to expand cooperative marketing opportunities.</li></ul>Advertising, Digital Marketing and Analytics<ul><li>Design and develop ads that effectively showcase Bayfield&rsquo;s unique attractions and experiences.</li><li>Oversee digital advertising campaigns (Google, Meta, programmatic, etc.) in coordination with vendors like Platypus.</li><li>Track performance metrics and generate monthly reports for the Board of Directors (BOD) and membership, highlighting ROI and engagement.</li><li>Present annual performance summaries to stakeholders and local government entities.</li><li>Implement marketing automation and data-driven communications to maintain visitor engagement throughout the year.</li></ul>Website and Content Strategy<ul><li>Manage and maintain Bayfield.org to ensure accurate, engaging, and user-friendly content that inspires travel planning and visitation.</li><li>Oversee content development&mdash;writing, photography, and video&mdash;to ensure consistent brand storytelling and high-quality visual assets.</li><li>Keep digital content current, optimized for SEO, and aligned with seasonal campaigns and event promotions.</li></ul>Membership Relations and Collaboration<ul><li>Maintain active relationships with Chamber members to identify marketing opportunities and create collaborative content.</li><li>Develop educational workshops or marketing insights sessions for members to share best practices and strengthen the overall community brand.</li><li>Provide support for membership communications, including newsletters, co-op materials, and marketing collateral.</li></ul>Creative Production and PublicationOversee design cobtent and production of printed materials, including:<ul><li>Bayfield Travel Guide</li><li>Art Escape Brochure</li><li>Fruit Loop &amp;amp; Art Loop Guides</li><li>Membership Co-op Booklet</li><li>Apple Festival Guide</li><li>Downtown Map</li></ul>Ensure all materials are cohesive, visually engaging, and representative of the Bayfield brand.Collaborate with part-time creative staff (e.g., photography, videography, social media) tomaximize creative output.Event and Community MarketingAssist in planning and execution of major Chamber events such as:<ul><li>Chicago Travel &amp;amp; Adventure Show</li><li>Wisconsin State Fair</li><li>Apple Pie &amp;amp; Dessert Contest</li><li>Apple Festival</li></ul>Take a leadership role in event marketing, signage, and visual storytelling to strengthencommunity visibility.Support local events with on-site coordination, volunteer engagement, and visitor assistance.Innovation, Grants and Revenue Growth<ul><li>Identify and pursue grant opportunities (e.g., Travel Wisconsin JEM) to increase marketing reach and funding.</li><li>Explore new revenue streams&mdash;such as branded merchandise, special events, or new literature pieces&mdash;to strengthen the Chamber&rsquo;s sustainability and visibility.</li><li>Continuously research emerging marketing trends to keep Bayfield&rsquo;s marketing efforts forward- thinking and effective.</li></ul>Operations and Team Collaboration<ul><li>Assist with day-to-day operations of the Visitor Center as needed, including visitor assistance and volunteer coordination.</li><li>Provide basic IT or technical support for staff as applicable.</li><li>Supervise and collaborate with part-time staff
