<br><div><p>Performs difficult protective services work in regard to emergency medical services and fire suppression; engages directly in providing advanced life support and stabilization procedures at the scene of a medical emergency and during transport to medical facilities; engages directly in fire suppression activities and response to fire related incidents as required; does related EMS, Fire and emergency services work as required. Responsible to Incident Commander on scene and/or any Bedford County Fire &amp; Rescue Officer.<br>
</p><p></p><div><b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:
</b></div><div></div><div><ul><li>Acts in the capacity of EMT-Advanced Life Support/Firefighter.
</li><li>Provides advanced life support and other EMS stabilization procedures.
</li><li>Performs rescue from potentially life-threatening situations.
</li><li>Assists in the protection of property via fire suppression and other fire related activities.
</li><li>Assists with Hazardous Materials Incident responses.
</li><li>Prepares accurate records and reports as required for EMS and Fire related responses.
</li><li>Operates emergency equipment as certified and required.
</li><li>Assists in maintenance of equipment related to the County EMS/Fire Service.
</li><li>Assists in maintenance of buildings and grounds related to the County EMS/Fire Service.
</li><li>Assists in maintenance of vehicles related to County EMS/Fire Service.
</li><li>Assists in maintenance of water distribution appurtenances related to fire suppression.
</li><li>Replenishes supplies and materials as needed for County EMS/Fire Service.
</li><li>Assists in fire and safety inspections/investigations of public and private property as required.
</li><li>Assist in providing EMS, Fire, and General Safety training to the public.
</li><li>Assists in providing EMS, Fire and Hazardous Materials training.
</li><li>Accomplishes other tasks and activities as appropriately assigned in reference to EMS, Fire and Emergency Services.

</li><li>Performs special projects as assigned.

</b></div><div></div><div><p>Extensive knowledge of advanced life support emergency medical care and techniques; working knowledge of firefighting techniques; ability to work cooperatively with other emergency services personnel under hazardous and stressful conditions; ability to assist in managing emergency medical services incidents making appropriate decisions in regard to patient care; actively performing fire suppression and property protection; ability to foster and maintain positive working relationships with volunteer personnel and the public; have an aptitude for mechanical and manual work and be in excellent physical condition.<br>
</p><p></p><p>Must be willing and able to develop a working knowledge of all aspects of Emergency Service activities within Bedford County and be willing and able to complete various tasks associated with the provision of these services.<br>

</b></div><div></div><div><ul><li>Must possess a valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver&rsquo;s license with 2 years driving experience and acceptable driving record.

</li><li>NIMS &ndash; ICS 100, 200 &amp; ICS 700, 800 certifications
</li><li>Virginia Department of Fire Programs Firefighter 1 and/or Firefighter II

Firefighter - Paramedic (ALS) - FT

<div><p>Performs a wide variety of specialized professional and administrative duties to support the Department of Emergency Communications. Serving as the office manager, works with considerable independence within the scope of established policies and procedures. Position requires discretion and diplomatic skill in representing policies and working effectively with County personnel, officials, and the public. Supervises and delegates the work of subordinate personnel. Work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Emergency Communications with moderate latitude for independent judgement and action.</p><br>

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</b></p><br>

Maintains knowledge of federal and state regulations, as well as county personnel policies and procedures.</li><li>
Assist with developing and continually analyzing operating policies and procedures for the communications employees and operations.</li><li>
Coordinates and facilitates the administrative process related to new hire on boarding and orientation.</li><li>
Performs employee personnel actions within the UKG platform to maintain records and compliance.</li><li>
Reviews employee timesheets for accuracy before final submission to payroll.</li><li>
Supports Emergency Communications with administrative tasks related to the compliance of generating grant documents and agreements.</li><li>
Assists with researching and applying for grants related to the Center&rsquo;s needs and managing grant funds.</li><li>
Assists in preparing the operating and capital budget requests for consideration by County Administration. Implements approved budgets; monitors and manages expenditures within the constraints of available resources.</li><li>
Oversee the Tyler Munis system for the Center including but not limited to; entering invoices, purchase orders, purchase card items, and other necessary transactions.</li><li>
Compiles various reports as needed. Collects and relays statistical information. Supervises and assists in record keeping.</li><li>
Responds and assists with requests for public records pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).</li><li>
Maintains Communications Center security and confidentiality.</li><li>
Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested by management.</li><li>
Maintains an accurate inventory of building and office supplies.</li><li>
Submits internal maintenance work orders as necessary. Coordinates office equipment repairs with appropriate vendors.</li><li>
Coordinates and works with vendors for upgrades of hardware, software, and maintenance of various systems.</li><li>
Works directly with system vendors to coordinate various updates and repairs as necessary.</li><li>
Participates in employee meetings and training as needed; takes and transcribes meeting minutes; maintains minute books; oversees the preparation of packages for dissemination prior to meetings and or training sessions.</li><li>
Assists with Primegov as directed.</li><li>
Coordinates with other county departments to ensure the success of the E-911 Center and other community agencies.</li><li>
Meets attendance requirements and maintains the highest level of dependability.</li><li>

<div>Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited community college with major course work in business management, accounting or related field.
