We specialize in providing housing for low to moderate-income residents. BIHF currently manages 14 housing sites island wide.This current job vacancy is for immediate hire as a full-time, permanent employee. Experience is preferred.Address: 688 Kinoole Street, Suite 102, Hilo, HI 96720Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am &ndash; 5:00 pm.Position Description: The Receptionist is responsible for assisting clients as well as providing clerical assistance to the Certified Occupancy Specialist/Tax Credit Specialists. The ideal candidate will be able to provide excellent customer service while managing administrative tasks.Note: This position is a front-line non-supervisory administrative position and time will be allocated to each project and activityDuties&middot; Greet clients upon arrival and answer questions or direct to the appropriate staff member&middot; Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries regarding services, the application process, etc.&middot; Review all incoming applications to ensure completeness, process completed applications and add them to the waiting list(s)&middot; Run criminal background checks for applicants and provide the results to the appropriate Certified Occupancy Specialist&middot; Draft and send processing letters to applicants at the top of the waiting list(s)&middot; Draft and send out verification forms&middot; Organize, log, and distribute incoming mail&middot; Assist with annual file/site reviews and audits if requested&middot; Support the staff with various administrative tasks and projectsRequired Skills and QualificationsApplicants must be seeking long-term employment, be currently on-island, and be available to interview and start work immediately. The following are required skills and qualifications for the position:&middot; An Associates Degree or 3 years of progressively responsible employment which demonstrates a strong knowledge of office and administrative procedures.&middot; A clean criminal history that is deemed mostly acceptable to the employer.&middot; A current valid Hawaii State Driver&rsquo;s License, with driving record deemed mostly acceptable to the employer.&middot; Flexibility to travel to project sites island-wide.&middot; Flexibility to travel to project sites to assist with annual unit inspections.&middot; Reliable transportation with current registration, inspection, and insurance documents.&middot; Working knowledge of standard office practices such as answering telephone calls, typing, filing, and working with clients in-person.&middot; Working knowledge of basic computer skills, word processing, spreadsheet software, and email.&middot; Ability to give and follow oral and written instructions.&middot; Ability to perform the duties of the position with minimum direction and supervision through their own initiative.&middot; Ability to organize work effectively and to follow-up to complete work in a timely manner.&middot; Ability to accurately interpret the rules and regulations of the housing program to determine eligibility.&middot; Ability to organize and maintain accurate and detailed records.&middot; Ability to maintain confidentiality.&middot; This position will involve working with automated accounting systems, HUD and Tax Credit compliance software.
