Staff Accountant-ConstructionDirks Heavy Contractors Butler, Missouri Office LocationJoin a Trusted &amp; Growing Heavy Civil Construction CompanyDirks Heavy Contractors is seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Staff Accountant to join our team in the Butler, Missouri office. This position plays a critical role in supporting daily accounting operations and project financial management for a growing heavy civil construction company. Construction accounting experience is highly preferred.Responsibilities Accounts Receivable<ul><li>Prepare customer invoices and progress billings</li><li>Process Time &amp; Material (T&amp;M) billings</li><li>Monitor collections and aged receivables</li><li>Assist with customer account management and payment tracking</li></ul>Accounts Payable<ul><li>Process vendor invoices and verify coding accuracy</li><li>Prepare and process vendor payments</li><li>Reconcile vendor statements</li><li>Track lien waivers and supporting documentation</li></ul>Payroll &amp; General Accounting<ul><li>Process payroll and maintain payroll records</li><li>Support certified payroll requirements when applicable</li><li>Prepare journal entries</li><li>Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts</li><li>Research and resolve accounting discrepancies</li></ul>Project &amp; Construction Accounting<ul><li>Maintain job cost records and verify cost coding</li><li>Monitor labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and project costs</li><li>Assist with Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting</li><li>Support project forecasting and cost reporting</li><li>Track contract values and change orders</li></ul>Additional Responsibilities<ul><li>Maintain subcontractor insurance and compliance records</li><li>Assist with month-end closing activities</li><li>Support audits, bonding requests, and financial reporting</li><li>Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned</li></ul>Qualifications Required<ul><li>Accounting experience</li><li>Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions</li><li>Experience performing account reconciliations</li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Excel</li><li>Strong attention to detail and accuracy</li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines</li></ul>Preferred<ul><li>Construction accounting experience</li><li>Knowledge of job costing and project accounting</li><li>Experience with WIP reporting</li><li>Understanding of construction billing processes</li><li>Experience working in a contractor, construction, utility, or heavy civil environment</li></ul>What We're Looking ForWe're seeking a dependable professional who enjoys being involved in day-to-day accounting operations while helping support project success.
