The mission of the Department of Student Accounts is to process all student tuition and fee charges, administer the collection of those charges, and disburse funds that may be owed to all students regardless of race. Position Summary:</b><br>
<div>
The Accountant II fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment, working with diverse students, parents, faculty, staff and other involved parties by providing the highest level of student facing front-line customer service (such as in person, by phone, and email) regarding financial status with the University.<br>
<br>
The Accountant II is a front office, customer facing role which will counsels all current and prospective students and families regarding financing options and financial policies. Ensures the highest level of compliance with federal, state and institutional policies-with complete and accurate processing in the student account.<br>
<br>
The Accountant II will process payments and issue receipts, review accounts for accuracy; complete financial forms and documents and distribute refunds.<br>
<br>
<i>Candidates with experience in cash handling, account recording, and/or bookkeeping experience could be successful in this role.</i><br>

<b>Essential Duties:</b><br>

Receives payments for accounts and issues receipts.</li><li>
Retrieve information from records.</li><li>
Assist a diverse student community with questions regarding their student account, serve as a liaison with appropriate parties to resolve the problem, and ensure issue is resolved contributing to student retention and success.</li><li>
Communicates and builds relationships with a diverse portfolio of agencies by telephone, in writing or in person to resolve accounting discrepancies or obtain data/documentation for reports and/or projects.</li><li>
Prepare financial reports and maintains accounts and records such as cash receipt and cash drawer to reflect financial status.</li><li>
Reconcile financial documents, records, transactions and statements to ensure conformance with established standards.</li><li>
Review reports, forms, etc. for accuracy, completeness and content.</li><li>
Monitor student account balances and communicate past due amounts due to obtain required payments.</li><li>
Prepare and reconcile daily cash drawer.</li><li>
Ensure compliance with laws, regulations and established standards and perform related duties as appropriate.</li></ul></div><p></p><ul><li><br>

The Assistive Technology Specialist is responsible for identifying, implementing, and supporting the use of appropriate assistive technologies and related resources to meet students accessibility needs. This role oversees the peer notetaker process and coordinates the provision of alternative format materials. In addition, the Assistive Technology Specialist collaborates with BSU Testing Services to support efficient proctoring of traditionally accommodated exams and directly manages the proctoring of exams that require non-traditional accommodations.</div><div>
As a member of the Student Accessibility Services team, this position serves as a key agent in promoting equality, empowering advocates, and contributing to an accessible experience for all members of the Bridgewater State University community.<br>

In this role, the candidate will have the opportunity to:<br>

Actively advance a culture of accessibility, inclusivity, disability rights &amp; advocacy throughout the Bridgewater State University community.</li><li>
Serve as the primary contact person for community-members with questions or need for technical assistance related to assistive technology, accommodated test proctoring, alternative format conversion, and/or peer notetaking.</li><li>
Contribute to the creation of innovative and practical solutions to address current and emerging student needs, including those pertaining to student use of assistive technology.</li><li>
Meet with students to evaluate assistive technology or other related needs, provide students with appropriate AT or related resources, and offer ongoing support.</li><li>
Manage a caseload (as assigned) of students receiving support via the SAS Office, including facilitation of the interactive and ongoing process of establishing reasonable accommodations.</li><li>
Develop and deliver active and passive assistive technology trainings and related materials to individuals and groups throughout the campus community.</li><li>
Maintain case files and confidential student records through various databases.</li><li>
Make informed recommendations related to the procurement of current and relevant assistive technologies and related resources to enhance student accessibility, monitoring contract terms and initiating procurement process in a timely manner.</li><li>
Actively contribute to the development and implementation of processes and resources necessary to accomplish the goals and philosophy of the department and the University.</li><li>
Monitor, maintain, and manage department technology (hardware and software) inventories, including overseeing required updates, repair, and replacement as needed.</li><li>
Obtain/create alternative format materials as needed, maintaining a library and tracking data on converted accessible documents.</li><li>
Support the accommodated testing practices of BSU Testing Services, directly managing the proctoring of non-traditionally accommodated exams at Student Accessibility Services.</li><li>
Oversee the functions of the Peer Notetaker request, hiring, provision, and compensation process.</li><li>
Participate in and/or lead University based working groups, committees, events, or other activities as assigned/interested.</li><li>
Represent Student Accessibility Services at on campus and community-based events and activities that may include admissions events, prospective students activities, cross-campus collaborative programming, SEPAC presentations, etc.,</li><li>
Contribute to the marketing and online presence of the office via multiple platforms (print, social media, BSU-specific applications, etc.,).</li><li>
Collect and report data regarding accommodation statistics.</li><li>
Support the development and implementation of departmental programming.</li><li>
Perform other professional tasks as assigned.</li></ul><br>
