Bridging Books Accounting is a growing modern accounting firm providing high-level bookkeeping, tax, and CFO-style advisory services to businesses. We are seeking a California-licensed CPA to provide part-time supervision and oversight for bookkeeping and accounting staff in support of qualifying accounting experience requirements. This is a flexible remote fractional role requiring approximately 5 hours per week.About the FirmAt Bridging Books Accounting, we operate in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment focused on:<ul><li>bookkeeping and accounting support,</li><li>payroll assistance,</li><li>financial reporting,</li><li>cleanup and reconciliations,</li><li>and CFO-style advisory services for business clients.</li></ul>Our team works closely with clients using modern cloud-based systems and collaborative workflows.ResponsibilitiesThe Supervising CPA will:<ul><li>Provide routine and recurring supervision of bookkeeping and accounting work</li><li>Review reconciliations, financial reports, workpapers, and client deliverables</li><li>Provide technical accounting guidance and feedback to staff</li><li>Conduct weekly review/check-in meetings</li><li>Evaluate competency, work quality, and professional development</li><li>Maintain sufficient familiarity with client engagements and workflows</li><li>Support compliance with California CPA experience requirements</li><li>Potentially sign future California CPA experience verification forms if requirements are satisfied</li></ul>Typical Areas of OversightThe CPA may review and supervise work related to:<ul><li>QuickBooks Online bookkeeping</li><li>Dext transaction management and coding</li><li>Account reconciliations and cleanup projects</li><li>Payroll support and reporting</li><li>Month-end close processes</li><li>Financial statement preparation</li><li>Client reporting deliverables</li><li>Internal accounting workflows and processes</li></ul>Requirements<ul><li>Active California CPA license in good standing</li><li>Prior supervisory experience in public accounting or CAS/bookkeeping environments</li><li>Familiarity with California CPA supervision and experience requirements</li><li>Strong communication and mentoring skills</li><li>Comfortable working remotely with cloud-based accounting systems</li><li>Ability to provide constructive review and guidance in a collaborative environment</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Experience supervising remote accounting teams</li><li>CAS (Client Accounting Services) experience</li><li>Small business advisory or fractional CFO background</li><li>Experience with:</li><li>QuickBooks Online</li><li>Dext</li><li>Google Workspace</li><li>Slack</li><li>Payroll systems</li></ul>Engagement Details<ul><li>Approximately 5 hours per week</li><li>Fully remote</li><li>Flexible scheduling</li><li>Independent contractor arrangement</li><li>Compensation commensurate with experience</li></ul>To apply, please be prepared to provide:<ul><li>California CPA license number</li><li>Resume or LinkedIn profile</li><li>Brief summary of supervisory experience</li><li>Experience with bookkeeping/CAS environments</li><li>Compensation expectations</li></ul>People with a criminal record are encouraged to applyApplication Question(s):<ul><li>1.
