Bridging Books Accounting is a growing modern accounting firm providing high-level bookkeeping, tax, and CFO-style advisory services to businesses. We are seeking a California-licensed CPA to provide part-time supervision and oversight for bookkeeping and accounting staff in support of qualifying accounting experience requirements. This is a flexible remote fractional role requiring approximately 5 hours per week.

Responsibilities
The Supervising CPA will:
- Provide routine and recurring supervision of bookkeeping and accounting work
- Review reconciliations, financial reports, workpapers, and client deliverables
- Provide technical accounting guidance and feedback to staff
- Conduct weekly review/check-in meetings
- Evaluate competency, work quality, and professional development
- Maintain sufficient familiarity with client engagements and workflows
- Support compliance with California CPA experience requirements
- Potentially sign future California CPA experience verification forms if requirements are satisfied
Typical Areas of Oversight
The CPA may review and supervise work related to:
- QuickBooks Online bookkeeping
- Dext transaction management and coding
- Account reconciliations and cleanup projects
- Payroll support and reporting
- Month-end close processes
- Financial statement preparation
- Client reporting deliverables
- Internal accounting workflows and processes
Requirements
- Active California CPA license in good standing
- Prior supervisory experience in public accounting or CAS/bookkeeping environments
- Familiarity with California CPA supervision and experience requirements
- Strong communication and mentoring skills
- Comfortable working remotely with cloud-based accounting systems
- Ability to provide constructive review and guidance in a collaborative environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising remote accounting teams
- CAS (Client Accounting Services) experience
- Small business advisory or fractional CFO background
- Experience with:
- QuickBooks Online
- Dext
- Google Workspace
- Slack
- Payroll systems
Engagement Details
