 PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
 
 Provides chair-side assistance to dental providers in all phases of restorative, prosthodontic, surgical, endodontic, pediatric and periodontic treatment as provided in general dentistry. Has clinic maintenance and record keeping duties
 
 
 
 Qualifications
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Must have High School diploma or equivalent.
 </li>
 <li>
 Must have completed an Accredited Dental Assisting course or 1 year of dental chairside experience.
 </li>
 <li>
 Dental Assistant National Board Certificate (CDA) preferred but not required
 </li>
 <li>
 Must be a self-starter. Able to work without direct supervision.
 </li>
 <li>
 Knowledge of dental instruments and medical/dental terminology.
 </li>
 <li>
 Knowledge of basic computer skills
 </li>
 <li>
 Must be able to complete Indian Health Service (his) x-ray competency evaluation.
 </li>
 <li>
 Must be able to provide age- specific care to patients of all age levels
 </li>
 <li>
 Must pay attention to detail and assume responsibility for tasks assigned.

 Essential Functions
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Seat patients in the dental chair, prepares them for treatment, and reviews their dental records.
 </li>
 <li>
 Sterilize, disinfect instruments and dental equipment.
 </li>
 <li>
 Provides post-operative instructions and provides oral health care education.
 </li>
 <li>
 Prepare materials for dental procedures per manufacturers instruction.
 </li>

Dental Assistant

<div>PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides comprehensive primary care and emergent stabilization services across the lifespan in outpatient, inpatient, and rural village settings. The APP practices within the scope of Alaska licensure and granted clinical privileges and collaborates with supervising physicians to ensure high-quality, culturally responsive care in accordance with BBAHC Medical Staff Bylaws, HRSA Section 330 requirements (as applicable), Rural Health Clinic (RHC) regulations, CMS Conditions of Participation (as applicable), accreditation standards, and Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:<ul><li>
Graduate of Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.</li><li>
Current national certification.</li><li>
Unrestricted Alaska license (or ability to obtain).</li><li>
Eligible for and granted clinical privileges.</li><li>
Current BLS certification; ACLS and PALS within one year.</li><li>
DEA registration consistent with prescribing authority.</li><li>
Ability to provide culturally responsive care in rural Alaska communities.</li><li>
Experience in Tribal Health, FQHC, or RHC setting. (preferred)</li><li>
Rural or emergency medicine experience. (preferred)</li><li>
Knowledge of HRSA, CMS, and accreditation standards. (preferred)</li></ul>
Nurse Practitioners<ul><li>
Graduate degree in nursing (MSN or DNP).</li><li>
Population-appropriate national certification.</li></ul>
Physician Assistants<ul><li>
Graduate of ARC-PA program.</li><li>
Current NCCPA certification.</li></ul>
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:<ul><li>
Provides comprehensive primary and urgent care services for pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.</li><li>
Performs medical history, physical examination, diagnosis, and treatment planning.</li><li>
Orders and interprets diagnostic tests.</li><li>
Prescribes therapies within scope of licensure and DEA authority.</li><li>
Performs procedures consistent with training and granted privileges.</li><li>
Provides emergency stabilization and coordinates referral or medevac transport.</li><li>
Documents care in the electronic health record in a timely and compliant manner.</li><li>
Manages chronic disease and preventive health initiatives.</li><li>
Coordinates referrals to specialty and tertiary care services.</li><li>
Participates in interdisciplinary case management.</li><li>
Supports Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and Rural Health Clinic (RHC) initiatives.</li><li>
Participates in Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE).</li></ul> 
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Schedule flexibility and on-call responsibilities may be required. Some weekend or evening hours are necessary in emergency situations.
