</li></ul><p><b>About the Role</b></p>
This role leads the data science function within a shared services setup, owning analytics and ML initiatives from problem definition through deployment. Based in Kuala Lumpur, you&rsquo;ll partner closely with business leaders to translate data into measurable business outcomes.
<p><b>About the Client</b></p>
Our client is a large retail organisation with established operations across Southeast Asia, supporting multiple business units through shared services. They are actively investing in data, automation, and advanced analytics to improve decision-making, efficiency, and long-term scalability.
<p><b>Responsibilities</b></p>
<ul><li>Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Data Scientists and Analysts, building strong in-house capability
</li><li>Set the data science roadmap and prioritise initiatives based on business impact and value
</li><li>Own the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle, including model development, deployment, and monitoring
</li><li>Translate complex business problems into clear analytics and ML requirements
</li><li>Oversee scalable data pipelines, ETL processes, and feature engineering approaches
</li><li>Ensure data quality, governance, and responsible use of analytics and ML models
</li><li>Partner with business stakeholders to define KPIs and measure success
</li><li>Present insights, model performance, and recommendations to non-technical audiences
</li><li>Identify opportunities for automation, optimisation, and cost savings through analytics
</li></ul><p><b>Requirements</b></p>
<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in a quantitative field; Master&rsquo;s degree preferred
</li><li>7+ years of experience in data science or AI/ML , with at least 3 years in a leadership role
</li><li>Proven track record delivering machine learning solutions with measurable business impact
</li><li>Strong grounding in statistics, predictive modelling, and machine learning techniques
</li><li>Hands-on experience with Python or R, and strong SQL capability
</li><li>Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern data architectures
</li><li>Experience working with business stakeholders and influencing decision-makers
</li><li>Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly
