We also have a proven track record of success in matters before the regulatory boards of the Virginia Department of Health Professions.Job Summary: A legal assistant enhances client service and law firm productivity by performing administrative tasks specific to our best practice processes including: document drafting, file management, scanning and mailing, email and phone communication, calendaring and scheduling, and general attorney and paralegal support. A legal assistant at Byrne Canaan has a positive, professional demeanor with strong client service orientation; ability to create a welcoming office atmosphere and work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and clients. The position is full time, with office hours generally 8:30 am &ndash; 5 pm.Job Duties &amp; Responsibilities:Primary Legal Support <ul><li>Transcribing, editing, proofreading, and drafting legal documents and correspondence</li></ul><ul><li>Drafting documents and letters from templates, customized to each matter</li></ul><ul><li>Processing all incoming documents (mail and email) into the firm's paperless system</li></ul><ul><li>Maintaining strict HIPAA compliance, attorney-client privilege, and confidentiality protocols</li></ul><ul><li>Coordinating depositions, hearings, court appearances, and travel arrangements including all logistics, correspondence, and calendaring</li></ul>Calendar and Communication Management <ul><li>Managing attorney schedules via shared calendars</li></ul><ul><li>Scheduling client meetings and appointments with full coordination of logistics</li></ul><ul><li>Handling attorney correspondence and communications</li></ul><ul><li>Answering phones, directing calls, and taking messages</li></ul>Administrative and Operational Support <ul><li>Supporting attorney CLE requirements, bar association memberships, and marketing initiatives</li></ul><ul><li>Assisting with billing and accounting tasks as requested</li></ul><ul><li>Ordering office supplies and maintaining select office equipment</li></ul><ul><li>Notarizing documents</li></ul>Office Management <ul><li>Greeting visitors and managing building access</li></ul><ul><li>Assisting with general office upkeep and operations</li></ul><ul><li>Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance workflow efficiency</li></ul>Qualifications and Skills:&middot; High school diploma or equivalent required&middot; 2-5 years of business or administrative experience required; legal office experience strongly preferred&middot; Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel)&middot; Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills&middot; Strong written and verbal communication abilities&middot; Proven discretion handling sensitive, confidential, and privileged information&middot; Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and ability to take initiative&middot; Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment&middot; Adaptability and willingness to learn new systems and processes&middot; Positive, professional demeanor with strong client service orientation and ability to create a welcoming office atmosphereIf you meet these qualifications and are looking to join a dynamic legal team, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity as a Legal Assistant.Job Type: Full-timePay: $45,000.00 - $75,000.00 per yearBenefits:<ul><li>401(k)</li><li>AD&amp;D insurance</li><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Disability insurance</li><li>Flexible spending account</li><li>Free parking</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Health savings account</li><li>Life insurance</li><li>Opportunities for advancement</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Professional development assistance</li><li>Retirement plan</li><li>Vision insurance</li></ul>Ability to Relocate:<ul><li>Richmond, VA 23230: Relocate before starting work (Required)</li></ul>Work Location: In person
