Overview.Portico is seeking an Accounting Clerk to support the accounting department through a variety of financial and administrative responsibilities. This role assists with accounts payable and receivable, data entry, account reconciliations, record maintenance, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.What you&rsquo;ll do.Essential Duties and Responsibilities<ul><li>Process accounts payable invoices and ensure timely payment of vendors.</li><li>Prepare and process accounts receivable transactions, including invoicing and payment posting.</li><li>Maintain accurate financial records and accounting documentation.</li><li>Reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and general ledger accounts.</li><li>Enter financial data into accounting software with a high degree of accuracy.</li><li>Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.</li><li>Verify, classify, and record financial transactions.</li><li>Respond to vendor and customer inquiries regarding account balances and payments.</li><li>Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and supporting documentation as requested.</li><li>Assist with audits by gathering and organizing financial records.</li><li>Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures.</li><li>Perform other administrative and accounting-related duties as assigned.</li></ul>What you&rsquo;ll bring.<ul><li>Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred or equivalent work experience.</li><li>Minimum of 2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or clerical experience preferred.</li><li>Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.</li><li>Experience with accounting software (such as QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar) preferred.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.</li><li>Strong problem-solving and time-management abilities.</li></ul>Core Competencies<ul><li>Knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.</li><li>Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.</li><li>Strong data entry and recordkeeping skills.</li><li>Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team.</li><li>Customer service mindset when interacting with vendors and internal departments.</li></ul>A bit about us.Portico is the only comprehensive student lifecycle management platform for career-focused schools.
