Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Middle Grades Social Studies Teacher to inspire and educate students in grades 6-8. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to a vibrant educational community committed to academic excellence and student success.Responsibilities<ul><li>Design and deliver comprehensive social studies lessons aligned with state standards and curriculum frameworks.</li><li>Develop engaging instructional materials utilizing instructional design principles and incorporating various learning technologies.</li><li>Implement effective classroom management strategies to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.</li><li>Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing preparation.</li><li>Provide individualized support through tutoring, mentoring, and academic advising to meet diverse student needs.</li><li>Incorporate creative writing, journalism, and research activities to enhance literacy education and critical thinking skills.</li><li>Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, lesson planning, and school-wide initiatives such as literacy programs and special education services.</li><li>Engage in ongoing professional development related to higher education teaching methods, Montessori approaches (if applicable), or other specialized instructional techniques.</li><li>Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress effectively with parents and administration.</li><li>Participate in school events, faculty meetings, and community outreach efforts to promote a collaborative educational environment.</li></ul>Skills<ul><li>Strong knowledge of social studies content including history, geography, civics, and related disciplines.</li><li>Proficiency in curriculum development, instructional design, and lesson planning tailored for middle school students.</li><li>Excellent communication skills for effective classroom instruction, student engagement, and collaboration with colleagues.</li><li>Skilled in classroom management techniques that foster a respectful and productive learning atmosphere.</li><li>Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and needs; familiarity with special education or behavior management strategies is advantageous.</li><li>Ability to utilize learning technology tools effectively to enhance instruction and student learning outcomes.</li><li>Knowledge of AP style, Chicago Manual of Style, proofreading, copy editing, and creative writing techniques is beneficial for integrated literacy activities.</li><li>Organizational skills necessary for managing multiple classes, assessments, and extracurricular activities.</li><li>Experience with standardized testing preparation and educational research methodologies.</li><li>Mentoring abilities to support new teachers or peer educators within the school community.
