The Aggregate Operations Assistant Manager supports the Aggregates Manager in leading daily operations across the region&rsquo;s aggregate sites. This role is instrumental in building a culture rooted in safety, operational excellence, efficiency, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on operational leader who leads by example, develops strong teams, drives performance through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective aggregate production.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership &amp; Culture<ul><li>
Promote and uphold a culture centered on Environmental, Health &amp; Safety.</li><li>
Lead by example through professional conduct, strong work ethic, and sound decision-making.</li><li>
Clearly communicate company mission, vision, and expectations to team members.</li><li>
Foster an environment where all team members view themselves as integral to operational success.</li><li>
Provide coaching and mentorship to supervisors and site personnel.</li><li>
Maintain strong field visibility to reinforce processes, procedures, and safety standards.</li><li>
Recognize and celebrate team achievements and desired behaviors.</li></ul>
Environmental, Health &amp; Safety<ul><li>
Ensure strict compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations.</li><li>
Promote proactive hazard identification and risk mitigation.</li><li>
Reinforce safe work practices and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.</li><li>
Support regulatory compliance efforts and site documentation requirements.</li></ul>
Operational Excellence &amp; Efficiency<ul><li>
Support daily production operations to ensure output, quality, and availability targets are met.</li><li>
Drive accountability through operational KPIs.</li><li>
Focus teams on labor efficiency and equipment productivity metrics.</li><li>
Analyze production data to identify trends and implement improvements.</li><li>
Promote best-practice processes across crushing, screening, washing, and loadout operations.</li><li>
Ensure consistent adherence to quality standards.</li></ul>
Preventive Maintenance &amp; Asset Management<ul><li>
Foster a strong culture of preventive maintenance for fixed plant equipment and mobile fleet.</li><li>
Work with maintenance teams to minimize unplanned downtime.</li><li>
Investigate root causes of breakdowns and implement long-term corrective actions.</li><li>
Assist in capital planning for equipment replacement and upgrades.</li><li>
Evaluate vendor performance and support purchasing decisions from a total-cost perspective.</li></ul>
Financial Responsibility<ul><li>
Assist in the development and achievement of the regional operating budget.</li><li>
Monitor production costs, labor utilization, and equipment performance.</li><li>
Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining safety and quality standards.</li><li>
Support capital expenditure planning aligned with operational needs.</li></ul>
Continuous Improvement<ul><li>
Encourage all team members to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, and productivity.</li><li>
Use KPI performance metrics to measure progress and guide decision-making.</li><li>
Support implementation of process improvements and operational best practices.</li></ul><ul><li>
1-3 years of leadership experience in aggregates, mining, construction materials, or heavy industrial operations</li><li>
Strong understanding of plant operations and heavy equipment</li><li>
Knowledge of MSHA, OSHA, and environmental compliance requirements</li><li>
Experience managing operational KPIs and production metrics</li><li>
Demonstrated ability to coach and develop team members</li><li>
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills</li><li>
Budgeting and cost management experience preferred</li><li>
Commitment to safety and operational excellence</li><li>
Valid Class D Drivers license with good driving record</li></ul></div>
