Job SummaryCASA of Western Maryland is seeking a compassionate, organized, and mission-driven Volunteer Advocate Supervisor to recruit, train, support, and supervise volunteer advocates who serve children involved in the child welfare system. This position plays a key role in ensuring that each child assigned to the program receives consistent, high-quality advocacy focused on safety, permanency, and well-being.The Volunteer Advocate Supervisor provides professional guidance and oversight to volunteers, supports case management and court-related documentation, and works collaboratively with child welfare professionals, attorneys, service providers, and the court.Key ResponsibilitiesVolunteer Supervision and Support<ul><li>Recruit, screen, interview, and help select volunteer advocates.</li><li>Train, coach, and supervise volunteer advocates throughout the life of their cases.</li><li>Maintain regular contact with volunteers to provide case guidance, encouragement, accountability, and problem-solving support.</li><li>Review volunteer activity, case progress, and documentation to ensure compliance with program standards, court expectations, and organizational policies.</li><li>Support new volunteers during onboarding and early case assignment.</li><li>Help identify continuing education and development opportunities for volunteers.</li></ul>Case Management and Advocacy Support<ul><li>Assign cases in consultation with program leadership and based on volunteer capacity, readiness, and child needs.</li><li>Monitor assigned cases to ensure timely progress, appropriate advocacy, and accurate documentation.</li><li>Assist volunteers with gathering information, understanding case dynamics, identifying concerns, and developing advocacy recommendations.</li><li>Review and support preparation of court reports, case summaries, and other required documentation before submission.</li><li>Attend court hearings, meetings, and case-related staffing as needed.</li></ul>Collaboration and Program Coordination<ul><li>Build and maintain strong working relationships with child welfare staff, attorneys, educators, service providers, foster caregivers, and court personnel.</li><li>Communicate professionally and effectively with internal and external stakeholders.</li><li>Maintain accurate records in case management systems and program files.</li><li>Assist with volunteer training, outreach, and program growth efforts.</li><li>Support overall program goals, special projects, and quality assurance efforts.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in social work, human services, psychology, criminal justice, education, or a related field preferred.</li><li>Relevant experience in child welfare, case management, volunteer coordination, advocacy, social services, or a related field may be considered in place of degree requirements.</li><li>Experience supervising, training, or supporting volunteers or staff strongly preferred.</li><li>Knowledge of child welfare, family systems, trauma, abuse and neglect, and court-involved cases preferred.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to review reports and communicate with professionalism and sensitivity.</li><li>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple cases, priorities, deadlines, and relationships effectively.</li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office and case documentation systems.</li><li>Valid driver&rsquo;s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel locally as needed.</li></ul>Preferred Skills and Attributes<ul><li>Commitment to the mission of advocating for children who have experienced abuse or neglect.</li><li>Ability to build rapport with volunteers and community partners.</li><li>Sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism.</li><li>Ability to work independently while also collaborating as part of a team.</li><li>Cultural humility and ability to work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.</li><li>Trauma-informed and child-centered approach to advocacy.</li></ul>Work EnvironmentThis position requires a combination of office, community, court, and virtual work.
